Heya guys!!  You need to go check out all of these links.  And then I’d recommend plugging the numbers from your spec into Loot Rank and going to town.

An example (not updated in some time) of how to plug this all in to Loot Rank.

Methods, known as Discourse, is by far one of the best theory crafters out there when it comes to DK’s.  I typically use numbers very close to his.  The differences are usually miniscule.  He’s a great resource, and I’d recommend going so far as to search all posts by him on EJ Forums.

Eleanor Sultan, a 5 year old with Cancer. Please donate for a chance at a free year of WoW and 20,000 gold. (click)

$5,314.46 USD was raised total guys.  I’m sifting through all of the donations now, sorting out how many raffle tickets each person effectively has, and then determining the winner of 20,000g.  I will be transfering toons to their server to give them the gold so long as they are on a US server.  I won’t be listing their real life name, because…it’s their real life name.  But congrats to everyone.  You win at humanity.  Thanks for being great to Eleanor.

Skeleton Jack

I’ve been playing WoW now for just over 4 years.  I spent about 1 1/2 years in Category 5 and nearly 3 years in Sleepless Knights.  I saw everything in original WoW short of 3 wings in Naxx.  I did see everything in BC, even killing Muru before the major 3.0 patch nerfing all content.  I’ve explored Northrend, mastered the Death Knight, mastered the Warrior, and mastered the Shaman.  I’ve been there, and I’ve done that.

I’m not sure there is anything more left for me in WoW.  I took a step back over the last day and I realized that there is no end to WoW.  I considered quitting before Sunwell released and then that drug me back in.  I was going to quit after, but then the expansion was coming out.  I was amazingly stoked about DK’s.  Naxx was pure misery, but testing on the PTR of Ulduar kept my interest.  And then raiding and just exploring new content captured my attention again…

And then I realized.  It will never end.

I have an addictive personality by nature.  Luckily for me my addictions are Coca-Cola, Fantasy/Sci-Fi, and women (nothing truly nasty in there like alcohol or drugs).  But there comes a time in life where you have to decide if it’s time for a change.  When I originally started this site I made mention that my goal was to see if I could put together an amazing product and market it to the WoW community without any kind of financial gain.  And I did it.

I set 6 months as my test range.  And if I could stick with it for that long and really do it, then I did have what it would take to sit down and finally write a novel.  I’ve got enough ideas for 10+ novels easy.  And the fact is that WoW + Blogging takes a solid 20-30 hours a week (equivalent to a part time job).  Between work, sleeping, my RPG that I run, and WoW I don’t have time for anything else in my life.  Not friends, not writing, not anything…

Many people quit WoW and then just end up coming back.  I hope I’m not that kind of person.  I am uninstalling WoW on my computer.  I’m giving all of my left over gold and stuff to my best friend and brother Garroc.  And I’ve arranged for my guild to keep access to my toon for raiding purposes if they so choose.  So if you see me online, it isn’t me.  Sorry.

To all of my readers.  Thank you.  Without you, I’d have never been a success.  You guys made this site what it is.  I was only the tool at your hands.  Thank you all.

I will be keeping my site running.  I may eventually change it to something else.  I could falter and be sucked back in by the succubus known as Blizzard.  And I still do use the Shi’dar tab for my personal gaming needs.  I may also eventually change that area to be open to the public.  My buddy Brian started recording the games I’ve been running, so I may also link those if anyone becomes interested.  I’ve not made any decisions about any of that yet.

Good luck.  And remember the Death Knight motto.  Killing people one day at a time…

-Micky

aka. Skeleton Jack
aka. Big Easy
aka. Elorien

P.S.  I’ve emptied out the coffers and mailed presents to my closest friends in WoW.  I talked to Rage, the GM of my guild.  And I uninstalled WoW.  It’s been real guys.  GL with all of your endeavors.

Waw… Did you just target me and push the silence button? I didn’t know what to say while reading.

I hope you enjoy the free time you will now get! You changed a lot of Death Knights their playstyles, including mine (with succes!)
There will never be someone so dedicated to -accurately blogging about DKs ever again.

Thank you for all that you did for us, and what you’ve done for and will keep doing for Eleonor.

Hey SJ i want to thank you. I found your blog a little to late. Just a few weeks ago but i want to thank you anyway.

It’s a hard decission to quit playing WoW. I had the same things in my mind while farming BT/Hyjal, then SWP pre 3.0 clear was my goal but when we achieved that WotlK beta wasn’t far away so i keept playing. Maybe i’ll be strong and make it in the next few weeks like you and drop this addiction… we will see. Best of luck to you. Maybe you should start a blog about your novel writing or something like that!

Good luck in real life m8 and good decision, though Im really sick about it :P
I’ve seen many ppl leave and not come back , many ppl leave and come back but not with the same addictiveness and conviction and be better for it.
Long and short of it was that it became a job that once yu realise you HAVE to do it, something then the fun fades.
Thank you for all you have done and good luck from here in the UK.

“So long and thanks for all the fish!”

Congratulations on deciding to make a change, I wish you the best with your next writing project. The site has quickly become one of my favorite Class destinations and I will sorely miss your work.

Good job rallying support for Eleanor, if only more people put their good intentions into action like you did we’d all be living in a better world.

P.S. Bronzebeard used to be my main server, so for me reading Skeletonjack is (was) like catching up on what’s happening back home. I even saw an old guild mate (a paladin) mentioned so that was somewhat amusing.

Dude,
It’s a tragedy indeed to see a writer and analyst of your stature and caliber leave the community. But I totally understand where you’re coming from. I celebrate your resolve in leaving wow behind and I hope for your sake that goal is met. I’m sure with the talent and ability you bring to the table, as well as the compassion you possess, as seen in what you did for the sick child, you’ll go far in whatever you choose to pursue. And dude, don’t be a stranger to the blog, let us know how you’re doing and stuff. good luck and good hunting

Today is truly a sad day for all the DK’s out there, who were inspired by you SJ. I can only talk for myself, and believe me when I say you made a big difference for the whole concept that Death Knight’s all about. I’ve constantly checked your blog for tips and tricks, and I dare to say it took me to the top. You have taken head-scratching-cursed-hard-to-understand-mechanics down to a normal level, and it made me understand everything instantly. I can’t list all the good things you made here, but I think I talk for a lot of us when I say you’re one hell of a guy!

I understand your decision, and I wish you the best in the future! I will continue to drop by and see what’s going on on the site.

Thank you. There are other DK sites, but they’re just not the same. I hope one of them can pick up the massive amount of slack you’re giving them.

I never gave my DK much attention until I came to your site and you inspired me to make him a badass. He’s not there yet, but you gave me the push to try something new.

Go and enjoy your re-found life raid. I wish you the very best!

You have always been near the top of my daily read list. You had your niche and you filled it well. One of BRK’s blogger tips was to find “schtick” that works and stick to it, which is something I think you did expertly. Your information was accurate and enjoyable, as was your own personal commentary on the state of DK’s. It was very nice that you just didn’t regurgitate news like some other blogs seem to. I wish you the best.

It’s sad to see you go, but I completely understand. I myself just graduated from college this last weekend and started up a job in a field that I love. Sadly wow just doesn’t seem to fit in with my life right now so I will most likely go the way of SJ. I wish DKs had come out earlier…because they are the most fun I’ve ever had in a class. In BC I raised 6 lvl 70s because I couldn’t make up my mind who I liked. I’ve had no desire to play anything but DK since I started mine. Long live DKs!

I hope everything goes well for you with your future endeavors!

Skeleton or Dessicated Body, I have come to rely on your blog for all things DK. I found the mountains of information you have amassed and the recommendations to be on target and totally useful. Being an old fart of 61 means I don’t have the rapid fire brain cells any more so your tutelage was very beneficial.

I wish you well in “real life” and I would welcome the chance to hear of your writing endeavors and look forward to seeing a published novel.

I cannot close without also acknowledging your humanity. Your embracing the opportunity to help a young child so tragically afflicted with cancer says more about who you are as an individual than any accomplishments in WOW. God speed and “We press on!”

SJ, you left a positive impression on me beyond WoW because I continued to visit here each day despite being gone from the game. Please let me know if you continue something public beyond this blog and I will surely follow.

Best regards and welcome back to RL.

It is a sad day for the Knights of the Ebon Blade… I truly wish you the best. Maybe you will one day return… you will be then welcomed as a hero… and if you don’t you will be known as a legend. I leave you with words of wisdom, words we sometimes forget…
“We are driven by a single purpose: retribution.”
“For us there is no peace, no rest.”
“All is not lost, not yet.”
“Harness your hate; make it useful.”
“We know much about sacrifice.”
“The Knights of the Ebon Blade will not falter.”
“We will see it through, to the bitter end.”
“We must forge our own destiny.”
“A shadow of hope remains.”
“We are eternal. We are unyielding.”

Wow! You are truly an inspiration! I found your site 2 months ago and was floored by all the material you have given us. I too realize that with my addictive personality will also have to delete Wow and move on. I suspect that with the kind of dedication you’ve had with this site ,that you will also have great success with your novel.
Thank you for your time! best wishes from the Coifang realm.

So here has been my day so far…. found out I have bad credit and can not purchase a house, chipped my front tooth in half on a piece of burnt bacon (literally), and now this…… i am most upset with the latter of the 3. this is how much i love what you do here.
I applaud your efforts to get back to RL, as i am sure you will be benefiting the people you encounter as you did here, now it will be face to face.
Good luck and God Bless

P.S. – Quit laughing about my tooth!!!

Id write a big long thank you and goodbye letter, but those sometimes make people stick around, and as much as you do for the DK community that would be good.

But I want to see you far away from WoW :-D

Gratz on a tough decision SJ. I wrestle with it myself constantly. At 40yrs old, ultimately the wife, kidz, work and the sunny SoCal weather will make my decision for me.
The DK and your site have thoroughly kept my attention over the past several months. It was truly a blast and a priveledge learning about this class from one of the very best.

Micky,

You have influenced tons of people!! Even though it was a game, your name was constantly stated in Trade chats and guilds across the game. You did amazing at “unnoobing” tons of DKs. If you could do this with a website dedicated to WoW, I cant wait to see what you could do with a novel. You don’t get to meet too many people in your life that aren’t selfish and/or self centered. You sir demonstrated both of those traits through this site. Whether it was for the DK class or more importantly for Eleanor. You have the gift of inspiration. I wish you good luck in whatever it is that you do.

In your words….

“Suffer well Brother”

Oh my, Mickey I’m sad to see you go. You truly made me a MUCH better player and raider. You proved that the Death Knight is a VERY viable class in WoW as well as showing exceptional life skills. I will sincerly miss reading your blogs a crap ton. They provided entertainment and made me an overall better person I feel. You helped prove that the WoW community can help make a difference (via Elanor). This is truly a sad day. I have one suggestion that you could possibly do, is at least spend some time a month just checking around some other Death Knight blogs and posting the links on your blog as well as updating us on what’s going on in your life. I know myself and others would be delighted to hear you real world adventures. Also, definately post a link in the future to a place where we can purcahse your books/stories/novels whatever it may be. I think I would find that a very interesting read.
Thanks for all that you have done. You are truely one of the greatest Death Knights, WoW players, and Human beings I have ever had the chance to read and hear about.

You did a wonderful job Skeleton Jack. Real life does come first and I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, you made the class more enjoyable for many. Mate, thank you so much for all the hard work and effort you have put into the blog over the last few months. As far as my friends and I are concerned, in the relatively short time that your blog has been running, you have become something of a legend. I am so sorry that you have called time on the blog but I have every sympathy with your decision to stop playing warcraft. I, too, am becoming increasingly concerned about the amount wow encroaches on RL and after 4 plus years of addiction I may well follow suit shortly. In the meantime, I wish you all the best for your future endeavours and hope you make a big success of your fledgling writing career.

SJ,

I was a lost DK before I found your site. Your dedication and passion to the DK community and more important Eleanor’s cause is admirable. Although I will miss your writings and observations, I applaud your decision. There are so many WOW players who take this game too seriously and in the end it is just a game. Best of luck and all the success you can handle in your future endeavors.

It’s sad to see people who obviously love the game make it their life. When you do this you’re bound to get burnt out. It’s such a great game and I hate to see people over indulge and end up quitting. You should relax and enjoy what Blizzard has jumped through hoops trying to make more casual friendly. To bad you’ll miss all the great things yet to come.

SJ thank you for everything!

Since I’ve found out about this site my performance and dps output has increased tenfold. An old tank who quited and decided to dps, noone believed I could make it but I managed to be always at the top 3 in every boss so far. And all thanks to you buddy.

Im one of the ppl that have been chained and dragged back to WoW by old ex-members and RL friends and I know what you are talking about. Ulduar boosted my interest for a bit but I dont think its gonna last. At the end its always the same.
So I can understand your decision and I wish you never to come back. RL > WoW … always!
