Death Knight Macros

The title really says it all this time doesn’t it?  So…here they are.  The largest compiled list of various DK macros I’ve seen so far on the net in one post.  Translation:  If you know of more on a site, tell me so I can go peek!!!  Please?

Moron flying to you in slow-mo
#showtooltip Chains of Ice
/cast Chains of Ice
/cast Death Grip

  • Double cast this macro to Chain your target, and then follow with a Death Grip.  The slow effect will be applied, and works against the Death Grip.  So you’re target, or pvp opponent, is now basically CC’d.  He’s slowly moving towards you midair unable to cast spells or stick in melee range on a target.  Meanwhile ally casters can be lobbing flaming death at him, Icy Touch him, etc…
  • They nerfed this finally.

 

Oh? Think you’re gonna run away? Not on my shift buddy!

/cast Chains of Ice

  • Kind of the reverse of the last macro.  This is basically your anti-runner macro.
  • They nerfed this finally.

 

Double Dipping Death Coil <3’s for Ghoul healing lovins’!!

/cast [nomodifier] Death Coil; [modifier:alt,target=pet] Death Coil

  • Click this and it fires DC off on your target.  Press ALT and then fire it off, and it hits your Ghoul with DC for a heal without losing your current target.

 

Strangulate my mouse?  What?!
/cast [target=mouseover] Strangulate

  • Cast Strangulate on whatever target you are hovering your mouse over.

 

Casters?  HAH!!!  I got their number…

  • Interrupt a caster’s spell, with Strangulate on backup duty if you need to do 2 back to back.  Or MF is on CD and you *have* to stop that spell from being cast.  All in one button!! :)
  • This doesn’t work.

  • Basically swap out any attack with “Icy Touch” and that button will fire off that ability and dump RP in a Rune Strike.  RS is *not* on GCD.

  • Keep your current target, but still throw a DC heal at your ghoul.

 

GET OVER HERE AND PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!  /needy

  • DG the target to you and then Taunt him.  Pretty straight forward.

 

/lazy mode on for non-Blood specs

  • Useful for any spec other than Blood.  Lights up your two diseases and then burns off your 2 blood runes right away.

I Have made the perfect macro for Blood spec Death Knight. It is as follows.

Hey SJ. I have a question about linking a Blood sequence together. When I’m doing some AE I usually use DnD then followed by Pest, and BB. I know those all focus on diseases but do I have a disease on the target before I can do the AE macro that I listed above?

Hey Zack,

The PS > IT > HS > HS > OB > DC macro above has been talked a lot about on some forums. Yours has also come up. From Eliteist Jerks who have tested both in BETA raids, it seems the one SJ has up gives more DPS out.

DnD will work regardless of diseases. Blood Boil is always pointless to use unless you used Pestilence first. I personally use DnD after Pest. I use it before BB (unless rune CD’s suggest to use BB right away) because it’ll do more dps in the long run, so get it up early before mobs die. Remember, DnD is high threat. It’s meant to be one of the primary tanking abilities. So using it right off the bat can sometimes guarantee a death.

/cast Chains of Ice macros. now i have been surfing around the net and its the same everywhere. question is that these macros uses both powers if there’s no cd on them and i have runic power, is that right ?

As to the Chains of Ice/Death Grip trick, it looks like they fixed it. I just tested it. But I mean, c’mon everyone who saw that just knew Blizz was gonna have to fix that, lol. Looks like they got around to it.

Mind Freeze is not on the GCD. Strangulate is on the GCD. MF takes 20 Runic Power unless you have Endless Winter. If you copy the macro exactly it will fire off a MF no matter what you’re doing so long as you have the RP for it. If MF won’t cast, and you have a Blood Rune available, it will cast Strangulate instead.

Try it on a test dummy if that doesn’t make sense. Just get up some RP first and make sure your Blood Runes are available.

Actually for that Mind Freeze and Strangulate Macro, if you have the RP and a Blood Rune up it will cast them BOTH instantly, since Mind Freeze is not on the GCD, which is a waste.

I always want to cast Mind Freeze first since I use my Blood Runes in the ideal rotation, but I’d like to have Strangulate available as a backup (even Arcane Torrent since I’m a BE, but it is also not on the GCD).

I have yet to find a macro that will cast Mind Freeze, and not cast Strangulate if you have the Blood Rune for it.

Ok, with Mind Freeze, Strangulate, and Arcane Torrent (BE’s), they will ALL fire at the same time if you have enough RP and a Blood Rune. The best solution I’ve come up with so far for 1 key is to use:

/castrandom Mind Freeze, Strangulate, Arcane Torrent

The 1st press will cast only 1. If the target is in range of the one selected, it will fire. If not, it won’t do anything so hit the key again.

After the 2 min cooldown’s are used up you are left with Mind Freeze, so start hammering the key about mid-cast and it will work.

I don’t feel that is a solid way to go really.

For Strangulate I’d actually go with:
/cast Blood Tap
/cast Strangulate

This guarantees that no matter what you’ve done there is a Blood Rune up to cast it.

As to a duo Strang/MF macro…I don’t think there is a solid one. In PvP you will need to use that Silence on command, and in PvE you’ll waste a blood rune far too often. The concept of the macro was solid, but it just doesn’t work.

Ok here’s an odd macro another DK and I were trying to figure out. When you are up close and in melee range with a disease on your target, cast Pestilence, then Blood Boil, and finally if there’s a corpse laying around cast Corpse Explosion. Any ideas? Tried

I am have trouble with my DPS in instances/raids, I have tried respecing, I asking could U plz mail me or post ur idea of a perfect spec/tree build for a blood dps DK. Alot of sites state tri spec 51, 14, 5. I just cant seem to get enough DPS outa my build plz help.

I have just sus’d out ur categories page & am looking at talent builds/respecing & were I should place my points, as i said i am active in H/raids @ 80 now, but am coming in rather low on dps recounts. i am trying to figure out wats up? if u could mail me a buiild suited for pve/pvp/raids, If there is such a balance it would be GREATLY appreicated, as in 51/14/6, is wat i am using atm. but i’m heavly considering ur unholy/blood build. Macro’s are all very simple to do. all work on an algorithm basis. if one is true, it will do it. if its false it wont. a simple work around is to learn the options available.
/cast [help] greater heal;smite
it will cast greater heal if ur target is friendly. smite if not. that means u can mix it around with DK skills. just learn the basics!

this is pretty pointless as Death Grip makes target attack you and Dark Command doesn’t work on targets already attacking you.

Although if DG is on cooldown then DC is cast and saves space in bar

on the Strangulate/mindfreeze/Arcane torrent macro issue, consider this:

/cast [nomod] Strangulate; [mod:shift] Mindfreeze; [mod:alt] Arcane torrent

if you hit the macro key alone it casts strangulate, if you hold down shift and the button it cats Mindfreeze and if you hold down alt it casts arcane torrent.

Also note, that #showtooltip is no longer required as the UI will automatically show the first available ability in the macro UNLESS you want a particular icon to show all the time. remember there is a 255 character limit on macros which fills up quickly and #showtooltip is a waste of characters most of the time.

Heres a great macro for blood specced DKs

/cast Frost Presence
/cast Vampiric Blood
/cast rune tap
/stopcasting
/cast Blood Tap
/cast Blood Presence

This macro is great when you need a big heal. Frost presence gives you more health which= a bigger heal when you use Rune tap.

This is a 2 click deal.. 1st click heals you, second click gets you back into kick ass mode.

Just remove that macro from the list. Reaons why you never wanna use a macro like this

1.Death grip is a taunt (most DK’s dont seem to understand this for some ungodly reason)

2.Targets will become taunt immune if to meny taunts are used in a short peroid

3.You burn both taunts with a single keypress putting both your 30 second and 8 taunts on CD

Infact if your tanking as a DK pulling with DG should be avoided if possable unless its a ranged caster or healer npc. Taunts are your groups life lines its best to keep them off CD until absolutely needed, If you’re DPS Death grip should be avoided completely (ie NEVER USED!) in group pve.

Is pretty useless. Death Grip makes the target attack you and Dark Command has no affect when the target is already attacking you.

You use it in PvP – just because you see a macro does not mean it’s PvE only. Taunt keeps people in combat, preventing them from drinking.

I’m looking for a simple way to target an enemy that’s attacking a party member. I’ve been tanking a little with an “out-of-the-box” DK and my biggest problem is selecting whatever is killing the healer. Any ideas?
