Life sucks man, but you seem to have a shorter end of the stick than most. If you still have access to cobra health insurance, should see a therapist to discuss some of these problems. Just write down ahead of time what you want to say. Not sure if it applies to you, but you should google Daily Strength. Pretty good morale boosting forums with a ton of subforums for every type of disorder/problem.
Anyways man, hope you’re feeling better.

Dude, some people have it tougher than others…we all experience life in different ways. BUT, you have touched my life via WoW and our shared love of Death Knights. I am very thankful that you have taking the time to put this site together and for laying the ground work for all of us to grow as Death Knights. I want to wish you my condolences on your loss and hope the best for ya.

I love the site. I’ve recommended it to several people.

I went to the doctor today for routine. ‘Saw a lot of other people in the waiting area that were far worse off than me. One guy in a wheelchair wore a helmet so he didn’t injure himself. I could see why after he demolished the news stand in a fit. Another woman had to be taken care of by her mother because of mental stuff. The doctor tells me, yeah, they’re worse off than you. But, you come in for treatment. It’s nothing to feel bad about.

I guess what I’m saying is its a fucked up world and everyone’s got something. I’m very sorry that you’ve had so much suffering. I prefer a good single malt scotch these days to the jack. Glenfidich makes a good one.

My DK is Vehemoth on Vek’nilash. Thank you for the comprehensive website.

I do have to say, your love for DKs and dedication to helping us other DKs with your time and devotion for getting information out on this blog has really helped me as a player to achieve better results and to just enjoy the game more.

I am sorry for your losses, death is always hard. I am glad you could share this with us, even if it is hard to. I am praying for you.

Wow, thats quite a life story. I can only hope that my fellow DKs that read this feel as i did-grateful for everything good or lucky that’s ever happened to them.
Jack, your site has opened up WoW endgame to me in a way i never forsaw, and every time i see myself holding aggro well or scoring high on the dps meters i know i have you to thank for that.
I cant imagine what your going through or where you’re at mentally right now, but know that you’ve made a lot of people happy through your work here.
Hang on in there man, the support is here when you need it.

I’ll check back on here, but you should email me, I can talk to the attorney’s at my work who do a LOT of employment law, but that sounds down right illegal what they did. People with health conditions should not be fired for them, and likely they are liable.

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for all the advise and updates you bring/have brought for us all.

I am truely sorry to hear about everything that has happened. I thought my childhood sucked, but in comparison it really makes you grateful for the things you have.

I am not a religious fanatic, but I will say a prayer for you. (I only pray at christmas. lol)
I really do wish you the best in this transition. That’s all it is, a life transition. You’ll be ok as long as you don’t give up. There’s always a way through things. There were some points in my life where I thought it really would be over, but afterwards I think about how grateful I was to make it through everything.

Im ranting… Again, take care SJ. I really do wish you the best. Good luck with everything and keep pushing on. You’ll make it through this.

We are here for you. When I say we tho, I mean the few people that will care about someone regardless of ever even meeting them. I’m not going to lie and say I know how you feel. I can’t even begin to imagine how you feel. I will say that I am here for you if you ever need someone to talk, either me or anyone in Mutiny of Dentarg. Regardless of anything that happens in life, you will always have someone out there to help you, no matter what.

I hope that writing it out this way helped in some small way. I really hope you haven’t started writing a country song yet! And I hope that your hangover isn’t too rough.

I must say that I’m really impressed that with all of these negatives, your sense of humour is still there (re “No dog though”)! I’m sure it’s part of what keeps you going! Hang in there!

My sincere condolences for the loss of your father and the news of your mother…

Dont worry though he does speeches at schools about how to turn you life around. Anyways brother stay in the fight, fuck the world and if me or you die we go to a better place. Damn man…this is the first time I have read your blog, but I can tell you have a passion for what you do…more than anything else, I hope that you can find some kind of peace in the hell that life is now…Losing parents, biological or not, is…devastating, to say the least. I think you did the right thing when you posted this…knowing that you have a community of people that support you can care for you can help a lot. So, I’ll be thinking of you, and sending positive thoughts your way.

I think what you might not realise SJ is that you have a lot of ‘friends’ out there on the internet. Friends who access your site, not only to read the content, but to read about you.

Although these friends might not ‘physically’ be able to help you out right now, I’m hoping that this knowledge itself might be some small help.

Your life has not been easy for sure, and many others of us take it for granted. I hear you saying that putting these thoughts into words verbally is difficult – I’m gladdened you have this avenue for expression at least.

With kindest regards and wishes that your future becomes a lot more positive, and quickly, a fellow DK.

Man I’m so sorry to hear about you father (cause essentially, that’s what he was to you). I can honestly say I can identify with how you’re feeling on several levels. My mother was bipolar, schizophrenic and a bad alcoholic (great mixture there). I remember many a night of hiding pills and booze from her to keep her from killin herself. A lot of pressure for a kid of 12. She went through 3 marriages, the last 2 being both mentally and physically abusive. My own father stayed out of the picture except to send an age-inappropriate card every now and then. You know what? I still love my mother. It’s a disease and it’s not something they can control. Yeah…I got what you’re saying. My own wife and partner of 6 yrs was recently diagnosed with a form of bipolarism and it was a tough road leading up to that diagnosis. We’ve had to file bankruptcy and have almost lost our home twice because of this horrible disease. You know what? I refuse to give up on her or myself. I fight for what and who I believe in.
I can’t imagine, though, the anguish you must experience with the stomach problems. Have you had your Pancreas checked? My wife is a nurse of many years and said that acute pancreatitis can cause your symptoms.
All I can do is try to give you some encouragement. While my childhood was fucked up like yours, I never let it define me as a person. Ultimately, it’s our decision as to what kind of person we’ll be when we grow up. I’d like to think that I grew up to be a fairly well-adjusted person.
I know you’ll find other opportunities. From reading all of your work on this site, I can tell you’re an extremely intelligent, concise individual. You would make someone a great analyst.
For now, drink up, blow off some steam and then start making some new plans when ya’ sober up. Whatever you do, don’t give up bro’.

Jack,

My mother in law has a similar condition as you. They can’t figure it out. I have been with their family for well over 10 years and she still politely excuses herself and runs to the bathroom. So far the only thing that has helped is a healthy helping of high starch foods as her body can absorb the simple sugars faster than any other food before she convulses. She stays away from meat (any type) replenishes her protein via refried beans. Stay’s away from hard to digest foods like veggies and cheese if she can. She has been to the best of throat and mouth doctors as well as specialists in the stomach and digestive system. The condition baffles them. They too thought it was a form of cancer but couldn’t locate its origin, nor can they identify higher levels of white blood cells. Modifying her diet worked well. If you can find a place that has liquid fruit vitamins you should try that in small doses regularly before you eat. Your body will absorb some of it, then when you eat the food will coat your stomach lining to avoid upsetting your stomach. I understand the food will do that, but it is better to have the food start the reaction then the vitamins. I hope you are doing well. And when they find out what you have or if they properly diagnose my mother in law I will post you the results. I hope you do the same if you have time.

I was reading your post and rest assure, I won’t give you condescendent words. You must’ve heard enough of those. I have never spoken or commented on your blog, but it’s due. I’ve been an avid reader of your texts ever since I created a Death Knight, back in June 2009. Not long, but enough to make me sad when you left WoW for a while and happy when you came back. Your insight about the class has made wonders for me. No website I’ve consulted came nearly as close to enlightning me as you did. I know that, seen through the perspective of someone who’s been through what you’ve been all your life, it’s not much, but you have my sincere and honest appreciation for all the effort you have put into this.
Thank you for all your words and advice.

What im trying to say is thsttheres alot of people in this world who has had a shitty life or do have atm and the best thing you can do about it id tslking to others about it.

Its been a few years since i had all my issues and today i have a lovly wife, 3 kids of my own and life really isnt all that shitty anymore. You just have to have faith and work hard to get where you want to be in life.

I feel your pain brother. My wife’s co-worker and close friend of 15 years passed from cancer in January. Then 2 weeks ago, I buried my father-in-law from COPD. Last night, we took my 13 year old miniature schnauzer to the LSU vet school at 11 pm because he suddenly couldn’t walk and was running into walls. It turned out (we hope) that it was just geriatric vestibular trouble, and that it will pass.

Point being, my wife broke down in the waiting room because, tbh, it just is too damn hard for people to lose the ones they care about at all, and when it happens so close together, it can really strain you. I think that if my dog had stroked or passed on, I would have her in the psych ward right now.

I will have to vouch for saying you should maybe give talking to someone a try again. It has been the best medicine for the wife and I.

My prayers are with you.

“Tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

You’ll be in my prayers. I’m sorry for your loss. You display a lot of character and good personality in your writings. May hope come soon…

I’ve been following your blog for quite some time. It’s always been excellent. I had no idea that stuff wasn’t going well for you – and I thought I had some stuff going on… I bow to the master.

Hope stuff improves – quickly!

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall

Just thought this quote would help. Rise from the ashes SK.

I do not think there is anything i can say here that someone else didn’t quite say as far as well wishing for your hard ti…hard life. I have been lucky in mine to not have anywhere near the problems you have and as you say”you cannot fathom”. I don’t know about praying to a god to take away your pain the theory in than genre would be too hard too pinpoint for your area of life. Only reason i say that is because in your position i doubt i would be too good of a believer. in regards to this awesome website you have supplied to wow players around the world…that takes some guts my friend. For whatever its worth in your trials and tragedies, Thank you for being someone I met in this world who put thier two cents in. By the sweat of my brow and strength of my back kinda guy is what i have always been and i see that in you. Suffer well then, yes?

As a casual player, your site has been invaluable to me in keeping up with the hard core players.

My heart and prayers go out to you in this time of emotional turmoil. I don’t think there are many people who can relate to the amount of tragedy you life has seen. Always remember that our strength is not measured by how long we can weather the storm alone, but in having the courage to find support when we need it. And it doesn’t matter what the forum is. We are all connected as family by being part of a common race. As human beings we should all be willing to lend an ear or hand when needed. If we don’t, what does that make us?

Please feel free to find me on bloodscalp, or email me. For though we have never met, we are still brothers. Stay strong

Oh man. I lost my dad in October 2007 from cancer. It pretty much destroyed me for a couple years…I’m able to handle it better now, for whatever its worth. Life is an unfair bag of shit far too often.

On the upside, there is some good old fashioned human solidarity flowing in these replies, and I have to say you saved me from DK nubness as well. Keep trucking man – how much worse can things get, right?

in one way I’m glad to hear this news, as I lost my own father and like to know someone else is feeling the same pain with me; in another, I am saddened for your loss.my father passed away five years ago from prostate cancer and it was tough for the whole family. It happened right about the time that WoW came out. It was tough, but I made it. you never want to feel alone in these situations. I sure hope you and your family the best of wishes

Its impossible to say that we understand your feelings. However, having gone through similar situations in my life, I can empathize. There is a specific quote from the end of the movie “Castaway” that I always helped me through the dark times. It said, “you just have to keep breathing, because the sun WILL rise, and you never know what the tide might bring in.” You’ll be in my prayers bro, you hang in there.
