Heya guys!!

So this is the quick and easy version.  I’m giving you the Loot Rank links instead of putting everything up on my site.  The end result is the same though.  All of the information is here at your hands.

  • If you need to look at items if you are fully hit capped, just change the Hit APE value to 0.
  • If you need to look at items if you are fully expertise capped, just change the Exp APE value to 0.
  • Not capped means it values Hit and Exp fully.  Exp is fully valued here.
  • Melee capped means you have the 8% hit, but are not reaching the spell hit cap.  Exp is fully valued here.

BLOOD APE Values

Blood (Melee capped)

Blood (Not capped)

FROST DW APE Values

Frost (Melee capped)

Frost (Not capped)

UNHOLY APE Values

Unholy (Melee capped)

Unholy (Not capped)

All APE values are on these links, and the best in slot items are listed.  Enjoy!!

Hi SJ, is it possible to give us the tier 9 two-piece and four-piece tier bonus APEs?

Thank you for getting the math done on these. I’m curious at the frost BISI, you have it shown the main hand/2 hand. Would off-hand have any significant value?

I am also interested if you by chance have a good idea of what the pawn values are for tanking or know of one to use, I seem to have a hard time finding one that is up to date, and I am insufficient in doing the calculations myself.

I have a question for Frost DW. Why is Mjolnir Runestone ranked as number 3 trinket? Is it really that good? Shouldn’t Death Choice be MUCH higher considering it stacks with Darkmoon Card?

I was looking at the weapons and your specs for 3.2 and I was wondering what pawn value a slower weapon should be rated since we DK prefer slower weapons for our special attacks.

SK, you’re missing Bloodbath Girdle in those links.
It’s a belt that’s off of 25man ToC.

It’s on my profile, Zinfadel, in armory. It’s not popping up yet on WoW head. I’d say it’s prolly the best DPS belt for Unholy.

Is there any particular reason for say, Breastplates for blood, it’s considering each BP to be able to use a red +20 STR gem, even when 2 of the sockets are not red?

Oh and for Blood cloaks, is the haste enchant really better than the 22 AGI that we’ve been doing for so long? Thanks SJ!

Hey SJ, love the site and everything on it. Just had a question in regards to this particular bit. When I click on the links the EP values are set values. I guess these are general values you have taken from EJ?
In regards to the blood ones, ArP is lower than Str, but this is only the case for lower levels of gear (under 6.2k ap raid buffed according to EJ). Wondered if it would be possible to mention something about this on the website for all the other blood DK’s to see and possibly explain it a little?

I apologise if this is a repeat of something I have missed before!

What is the reasoning the lists all use the metagem Destructive Skyflare Diamond http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41307 instead of Chaotic Skyflare Diamond http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41285 ?

Holy crap this is a fuck ton of questions. Okay, here we go!

@Veldin: Give people time to get the gear first so we can test out the proc rate + internal cooldown and usage of the 2 pc proc. 4 pc proc is pretty easy, take your disease ticks, and add an additional amount based on your chance to crit with them (Likely taken from your spell crit chance) and there ya go, that’s the extra dmg you would gain. Same goes for Wandering Plague if you had it. Finally consider how much you might gimp yourself by taking set pieces over a possibly better itemized piece. You can figure out the rest.

@LB DK: Death’s Choice currently is not calculating the proc into the total output that the trinket can do. You can verify this because its value is literally just from the ap it gives. Weigh in what DMC:Greatness pulls, figure out the pointage they give for the proc, extend that to the Death’s Choice proc, consider the internal cd and there ya go, add on the new value.

@Dep: No offhand is not significantly different from the MH because you swing with both with DW Frost special swings. Furthermore the stat gains of the OH don’t change, just be sure to check the swing dmg before you roll on something that’s too fast. Tanking is different based on needs. This is dps and likely won’t address tanking values

@Zinfadel: Correct. Bloodbath Girdle drops from Jaraxxus Horde side, but is equally represented by the Bloodbath Belt Alliance. There are some missing items which are from the ToC Heroic Modes which are straight upgrades from their Normal Mode counterparts. Same values still apply though, so it is not any different.

@Gearbox: This is because you would gain more from going pure str in those gem slots over halving it with a less desirable stat to gain the socket bonus. This is of course done on a case by case basis, so don’t just follow it blindly, keep some thought in the equation.

@Gulden Draak: This is different from tanking where you want to maintain survivability but still boost str to maximize your threat generation. Consider if your rotation is generating the optimal amount of threat and that you’re using every extra trick in your bag to gather every RP you can muster. This includes Blood Tap, HoW, Armsman and diseases. Finally, you may want to revise your talents to improve your personal threat and even requesting all Resto Druid with Revitalize to maintain Wild Growth and Rejuv on you at all times.

@Runé: Like any other BiS list, it does NOT take into account your other items and stats. SJ has kindly done his best to accommodate us by including different links and instructions to note the change of values once you reach special hit cap. This would be taking into account your hit. This is why you need to continue research and not rely on a straight list to judge your upgs (this is the source of why Blizz is so frustrated with players using pure EP values to judge the “best” upg for them.) i.e. if you are over hit soft cap, it does much less per point for you. If you hit X ap while standing around in a raid, ArP would do more for you than str. etc. You can’t just take a list and reference it, because it doesn’t account for these limitations from your other pieces.

@Daerange: Very likely another error with the calculation valuing only the straight crit rating and not the +3% crit amount. It’s good that you catch these because it shows that you don’t take the list as absolute truth. Continue to stay smart and be aware of what is being fed to you, because not everything is 100% accurate ^^ To sum it up, yes it’s an issue. But you already know which gem is better for your dps, don’t you =P

There. Did the best I could..

@SJ: Nice site, I’ve never been to lootrank.com before. It’s too bad they’re gonna phase out ArP because players were getting so confused about it.. Stay well, have fun with CO.

Quick question about off-hand weapons for Frost DW. Im not sure im clear why the main hand and off-hand lists are so different. Yo want 2 slow weapons, so surely the higher value weapons listed in the main hand list are equally as valuable as off-hands aswell? for instance the best would be Two “Relentless Gladiator’s Handaxe” Rather than One “Relentless Gladiator’s Handaxe” and one “Caress of Insanity”

thanks, and keep up the good work!

for frost DW: I’ve acquired some great gear in toc and i think its better then msot my guildies and I want to be sure I’m optimizing myself and outperforming the rest of the dps since I was just promoted to DPS lead.

Easy questions.

Is the new sigil of virulence better than awareness for forst DW?

Attacking a dummy I see with all my procs My AP gets up past 6k..with sigil of virulence ofcourse. I gem stack straight strength…….My armor penetration rating is only about 13%, or around 140 rating.

Question is….should I start gemming armor penetration now isntead of strength considering how high my AP gets with my procs, that have consistent uptime?
