Heya guys!!  Today is finally the day where I ask you guys to donate real life cash to help a 5 year old girl suffering with cancer.  In return you’ll get a chance to win 20,000 gold and a year’s subscription to WoW possibly.  And hopefully some peace of mind as well for doing the right thing.

Edited In 4/26/09:

It’s now 57 hours after this post was first made and we are already up to $4,227.86 USD!!  I cannot thank you guys enough for being there for Colleen and Eleanor.  Keep this up and we’ll reach that goal of $10,000 way before one month easily.  Thanks again guys.  You all are amazing and awesome!!  :)

What’s going on?

Not too far back I met a woman in World of Warcraft who simply put, stopped me in my tracks.  I knew instantly that I’d become friends with her, and that she was an incredibly cool person.  Since then we’ve become friends and I’ve gotten a chance to learn about her life.  And a hard life it’s been.  She was suffering from a *major* disease herself (and about to finally get treatment) when she learned that her daughter had developed cancer.

Her daughter is 5 years old.  Five years old and is dying of cancer.  Needless to say she put her own personal needs to the side, suffering, all the while doing everything possible to take care of her precious little girl.  And she’s never asked for anything.  Nothing.  Can you imagine?

When I found out about all of this my heart broke.  This one hits a little close to home to begin with.  But adding in that it’s happening to not only a friend of mine, but a child at that.  It kills me.  I really want to cry when I think about.

I thought about a lot of things to do to help her and Eleanor out.  I honestly even thought about decking out my toon SJ as much as possible and then auctioning him off for the cause.  I could always level up a new toon.  But as there are some EULA issues with Blizzard concerning that option, I finally decided instead to do a non-profit raffle.  Figured it’d be a good thing.

And believe it or not I had to fight tooth and nail to convince my friend to let me do this for Eleanor.  She fought me.  Hard.  It took me forever to just get her to finalize the banking details to set this up.  But in the end, the fact that she is a mom won out.  She saw my point that this is about Eleanor and no one else.  She didn’t want to beg for help or have people take pity on her.  She wanted to be strong.

Hopefully some of my readers can be strong enough to help support her.  She needs it.

Eleanor Sultan

Eleanor is a 5 year old girl who lives in Seattle, Washington.  I’m not super savy about all of the details on her cancer, but I can give you some resources to check out if you are interested in them.

If you care to learn more about Eleanor, her parents set up a Blog to keep friends and family updated with details:  Click here for Ela’s Blog!!

Also if you wish to see what she looks like, she is actually in a commercial for Seattle Children’s Hospital here at this LINK.  If you watch the 60 second commercial:  Anthem – 60 second TV, and go 20 seconds in you will see a little angel riding a tricycle while her dad (off screen) is running with her to keep her IV stand close enough so she can actually do something so simple as to ride a trike.  When was the last time you saw a child have to have an adult run with them carrying medical equipment just so they could enjoy something so simple?  :(

Her cancer is bad.  The kind where in the best of care she can only hope for a 40% chance of survival.

The Raffle

This is a 100% non-profit raffle.  I am personally throwing in my own in game gold for the prize and then transfering toons to the winner’s server to give them the gold.  If the subscription is won, the WoW cards will be shipped (or the verification codes) as appropriate and expediently.  No one is making money off this and the EULA is not being broken.

Donations

If you wish to donate money to Ella then we will love you for it.  Any amount you wish to donate is acceptable.  Seriously, anything helps.

  • Donating $10.00 US gets you 1 raffle ticket.  Less than the cost of one month’s subscription to WoW.
  • Donating $50.00 US gets you 6 raffle tickets.
  • Donating $100.00 US gets you 14 raffle tickets.

Prizes

  • If we reach $1,000.00 then the raffle wil be for 10,000g on a US server.
  • If we reach $5,000.00 then the raffle wil be for 20,000g on a US server.
  • If we reach $10,000.00 then the raffle wil be for 20,000g on a US server *AND* 1 year paid subscription to WoW.

Over 10,000 different people are visiting this site every single day.  If just 1 in 10 of those people decided to donate at least $10 then Eleanor would have $10,000 for her needs.  Think about it.

Additional Prizes

I have an offer from a friend of Ella’s mom to put in some additional gold.  So in addition to the “Grand Prize Winner”, we will also have one to three additional prizes given out as well.  This will directly hinge on how much is donated.  The more donated to Ella, the more that is getting thrown into the pot.  Possibly as much as an extra 10,000g or more.

Prize Limitations

I can only get this gold on a US server.  I cannot get anything to our Euro players.  So the gold is limited in that fashion.  The WoW subscription of course is in no way limited.

Donation Issues

If for some reason the 2 donation links cause you any kind of an error please visit PayPal and donate to the following e-mail address acount there:  ellabellalove@live.com

Shout Outs, Advertising, and Blogs!!

Please, please, please, please help me out here.  If you know anyone who might even be willing to consider donating then tell them about this.  If you know someone who will tell other people.  Tell them about this.  If you know someone with a blog who will link this.  Tell them about this.

Any sites that link this up I will happily link back and tell everyone how wonderfully awesome you are.  Eleanor deserves the best and I will happily sell some “air time” on my site to help her out in the limited fashion available to myself.

I never ask my readers for anything.  I’m asking now.  Please help Eleanor.  She deserves it.

-Suffer Well Brothers and Sisters.

Our friend Skeletonjack here gives us a huge amount of his time with his blog. I at least have foud his site a great help.

For one time, we can help him back. Do not hesitate and hit the donate button!!

Had he set a donate button for himself, I’d had helped anyway. Moreso for a good cause.

It was strange that I read this when I had one of my WoW buddies on my mind. He is recently recovering from a bout with cancer, and I spend over a year fighting with him because he never let me help.

It’s good to see that you are able to reach out to fellow WoW players in their time of need.

I am more than happy to donate to this innocent child’s fund and have done so. We whose children enjoy a healthy life are fortunate indeed and my heart goes out to Elanore. Keep up the good work SJ, both personally and here at your excellent site. Best wishes for a successful campaign for this lovely child.

Hi SJ! Have you thought about contacting the guys at Penny Arcade? Their “Child’s Play” annual charity is huge. Maybe they wouldn’t mind kicking a link back to this post in one of their news post.

Just a thought :)

A few people left some downright shitty comments. I don’t much appreciate them. And I deleted them. I’ve been running this blog for 6 months now with no ads, no donation page, no nothing. Not because I’m lazy, but because I wasn’t sure making money off of my hobby was a good thing to do.

I started this blog for fun and I’ve done nothing but give to the WoW community. I’ve done nothing to earn distrust, nor have I ever been deceitful towards my readers. If you don’t believe me then fine. Go elsewhere and please do not bother every visiting my site again. I don’t even want to be remotely associated with someone that would imagine I’d rip people off with a “scam” like this.

To all of the rest of my readers who have contributed. Thank you *SO* much. Colleen is a very special person and deserves the assistance you guys have helped provide to do things for Elanore that were beyond her means.

I’ve been reading this blog since Death Knights came out, and I have to say it’s been well worth it.

I don’t have any funds on paypal right now, but I’m more than willing to get some on there and at least give what I can.

I’m a poor college student, but if skipping out on a night of drinking and partying can make someone’s life better then it’s absolutely worth it.

I’ll donate all that I can, even if i can’t go out as much there’s always my DK and WOW waiting for me :D

Question: When donating money at what point do you find out what our server is and what our name is? The donation is made with our real name. So are you calling out winners with that info from our credit card?

Just trying to find out more info

My expectation would be to contact the winner via PayPal if possible (which if you paid by using an account is possible). If you did not set up an account, or there is an issue with that method, then calling out the winner on the site and speaking with them after for verification was the “last resort” as it were. Overall I’m not expecting an issue with finding the winner considering everything is going through a PayPal account.

I am not an experienced player, and I struggle daily with DPS numbers so those who I raid don’t have to keep carrying me. Because of this site, I am learning and it has helped me so much, I am sure it would have taken me years to learn about this stuff on my own. It is my honor to help support your efforts SJ to help a friend. It is my dream to someday become one of the best DK’s in the game, and I really wish I had a friend like you to help me when I need support it means alot and can make all the difference in the world.

This is for Ella:

Dearest child, if you fall I will catch you, if you are sad I will make you smile, if you are ill I will care for you. These are my promises willing given unto thee, a child of mine whom I truly love with all of heart and soul. You should never have to suffer, for it is I who should suffer for you as our lord and savior Jesus Christ did for us.

To clarify….the prayer for Ella is one of a parent to a child of theirs….although I will champion the cause of children, there is no limit to what a parent will do for their children.

Here’s a no brainer: donate! SJ has made it easy, and for the price of a medium pizza you can, in a small way, make a positive contribution to the most tragic circumstance that a parent can ever have to face.

Thank you for offering us the chance to do something worthwhile, SJ.

Dear Skeleton Jack , i havent made my contribution yet , soon to come, tho ive done a tad of research , and i found a documentary (Food Matters) that you MUST watch, and tell Eleanors mom to watch too, download it illegaly if that what it takes , there are extremely cheap and unortodox ways to threat Terminaly ill patients with over 80% succes rate!

this is no commercial for some stupid documentary that someone will make some money on , this IS important!

heres a direct link, not good quality tho but for the cause i think its worth it

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=food+matters&emb=0&aq=-1&oq=food+matter#

keep in mind that all threatments a doctor will hand out is mainly for profit , did you know that kemo dont just makes cancer vanish , there are high odds that it will make cancer even worse =/

Best wishes to Ella and her family. Get well soon, kid.

Thanks so much for the site. It’s by far the best I’ve found and I wish there were more for other classes as informative (and easy to understand) as this one. A donation is the least I can do as you ask for help with this special little girl. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Rock on.

I find the Ella story so heart touching. So I was just wondering if this little girl is still alive? It seems all updates end in April. Also, is this raffle still going on? On Myspace Secrets I recruited people to go look at her websites and commercial, etc, including this one, but I noted that I was not sure if the raffle was still going on. Someone e-mail me or go and message me on myspace.. THANK YOU.
