31,912 Individual Hits on SJ for Tues, the 3.1 release!!

HOLY CRAP!!!

Heya guys!!  This site usually sees about 6-7k hits a day.  On a big patch day that jumps to about 10-12k hits a day.  On Tuesday I hit 32,000 individual hits on my site here.  Not views, but hits.  That was like 51,000 actual views.  F’ing Righteous!!  :D

Thanks guys.  I feel the love!!  :)

So, we went into Ulduar this evening and it was pretty craptastic I have to say.  LOL.

Ulduar

We went to Flame Leviathan and one shot him on Easy Mode (we’re skipping the majority of hard mode kills for the first week to reach maxium gearing).  Everything’s going smooth and we move on to Ignis.  We didn’t really master this fight on the PTR, but we have an idea of what’s going on.  Shouldn’t be too hard.  2 hours+ later we’re wondering why we’re sucking so bad until we find out that Ignis and XT-002 are both bugged out.

/sigh

Months of PTR testing, and they still pushed everything live with bugs.  PURE WIN BLIZZ!!!  Heh.  Though, in all fairness, they’ve never pushed content Live before like this (I don’t think…).  So, they deserve a freebie from time to time.

But basically by the time we swapped over to kill Razorscale (the only other boss that was killable), they reset the server and killed Ulduar.  Ah well, we’ve got the rest of the week still!! :D

Oh wait, editing as I write!!  Ulduar is up and we’re heading on in!! 

Spec Posts

So, people have a ton of questions about the specs I listed here on the site.  And I’ve got answers.  But I’m going to be cruel and tease you some.  :)   Heh, heh, heh…  I will be posting 2-5 posts a week just about the new specs for 3.1 content.  And, I will likely be pushing forward on the PvE dps specs first.  But who knows, I might just switch things up on you!?!?  Might get CRAZY!!!!

Vault of Archavon

So we went in and totally did not kill the add when we were supposed to.  He blew up.  We died.  LOL.  So then we do it over again.  We kill the adds and things are smooth but then we wasted too much DPS on the adds and the boss soft enraged.  We died.  ROFL.  So then finally we realize the boss fully heals the adds before enraging them pre-blow up, and that we were just sitting there throwing DPS away.  Heh.  So then we just sat the adds in the corner and blew the boss up.  Easy.  :)

Long story short?  I do not recommend pug’ing this 25 man at all.  Go with friends and guildies.  It requires people to swap targets quickly and drop major dps on the specific add.

Thanks a ton SJ, for the specs. I usually dig through tons of sites, including the crowded threads of EJ, in order to find the right specs, but you’ve summed it up nicely for me this time ;p. My guild didn’t have the pleasure to raid tonight for we started really late (due to server downtime, bah) and decided to hit up Emalon (new Vault). Like you said we quickly discovered him to be less-than puggable. Everything might’ve went well for we figured out the fight and all, but then the instance server went dead for half an hour… Patch days, quite a love/hate thing going on there…

Haha your expereince sounds like the same as ours ~ fun with Leviathan and then BAM! bugged bosses. I’m hoping they push some hotfixes before tomorrow night’s raid. /lesigh!

Sup SJ & G! Thanks again for all your info, I picked up your frost tank spec, modified it a bit and I love it. I could help but spread the love in general chat at the DK trainer when a couple people asked for spec’s I sent them directly here! Glad you got so many hits, you deserve it for all the hard work you put in!

Yo yo yo!!!

Well 3.1 hit and I’ve been waiting for it. I’ve been gathering my armor penetrating gear from 25 man Naxx and other great dps gear to include the Nobles trinket.

Well, first spec I hit was a blood/pvp-pve spec. O……….P………… LOVED it

In the 25man Vault my Death Strike was criting for 10.7k damage and healed for a 10k heal. My Heart Strike was criting for 7k.

During PvP it was cutting through people left and right. Now, with the gear, gems and Talents I’m sitting at roughly 20% armor penetration. In PvE gear. I think it was roughly 14% in PvP / PvE gear, meaning I built up too around 475 resilience rather then putting on all 800 resilience gear.

Anyway, Glad it finally hit…time to work again.

Question:

Ive got the Heart Strike glype, Death Strike Glype for my new Blood dps/pvp spec.

The question is they left Blood Stike in. Does it work with your Heart Strike like it used too. Because of the 50% Snare with the Heart Strike Glyphe, If the 20% bonus to damage still works on Heart Strikes then I’m glad Ive still got it on. I would like to know though incase I need to swap that Glyph out for another. Thanks.

i know i was prob 15 of those hits lol, had to retalent every time the server went down and i lost count……. wish i was high enough to play in the new instances, but im still lvling. Thanks a lot for everything you have done on here and helping me to not be a deathtard! keep up the good work!

Hits are not Views. You are one hit, no matter how many time you viewed the page. So if you visited my site 15 times in one day, you’d be one hit and fifteen views.

Well, that’s it, I’ve decided that Ulduar is impossibly difficult… to zone into. As we progressed through the instance people dropped left and right and were unable to re-zone… le sigh.

On another note, the 0/10/61 spec you posted is amazing, it’s actually quite easy to maintain ~6k dps now, thanks again. I find frost spec to be more fun, though, albeit less dps. I’d recommend giving both a try if you’re not too competitive about dps.

does 0/10/61 still work quite well, SJ, even if you’re not T8 geared yet? i’m almost tempted to use this spec for a change. the 10% increase in frost and shadow damage seems to outweigh the AP increase from Bladed Armor. the 12/0/59 seems a bit boring. much like the pre-3.1 spec.

too bad there is no viable dual-wield spec anymore. it’s bye2x time to my hailstorm and split greathammer. :( why would they make us capable of DWing and utterly destroy it? blizz is just stupid. better they took it out entirely. such good gear wasted.. .

well thats embarrassing, called out by SJ himself lol. still new to computer stuff, was halo player, then halo live, then the stupid ozzy commercial got me on wow……been hooked ever since. so ya i was like 15 of the views then yesterday, is that better :) thanks again for great resource on all things dk!

Happy to report DW is not dead. Ran with an unholy 0/18/53 spec last night in NAXX 25 and did more dps than I ever did in any other DW spec. SJ is probably correct that equiping a 2h in the same spec may have yielded better results, but I am very happy comming in with a leading 4200 overall dps after two wings. I am wearing only t7.5 shoulders; no other t7x gear and I am missing the glyphs required for this spec. My toon is on the zangermarsh server if you want to check my armor, etc. Peace

I had the same thought, but have read that the Blood strike glyph does not work on heart strike anymore.

I haven`t tested it myself thought

Blizzard worked very hard to crush Diseaseless specs. Diseaseless Blood is no longer viable is my understanding.

Not directly related but anyone else having trouble with their specs since the patch. I have points vanishing from my tree but not losing the abilities. Even had a 10 pt extra at one point.

Gareld, last night my DK was missing some points showing in his spec, both SS and UB showed that I didn’t have points in them, yet I had the skills and was able to use them while fighting.

Strange.

Yo, Jackie boy. Could you also throw together a post about what Add-ons you use, and ones that still work in 3.1? I think a lot of DKs would really appreciate it as since we’re a new class we don’t have a heavily established Add-on Base.

Also with a new major content patch out this be the best time.

talent points have been falling off of everybody from what ive seen….
its like a consistant free respec atm…. take advantage of it, my unholy tree keeps resetting at the top, allowing me to test everythign free heh…

@Khayven – Open with Blood Tap:

PS > IT > OB > IT > BS > DCx2
PS > IT > OB > BS > IT > DCx2

…however I did not stick with this the entire time…I was playing with various rotations and had nothing setup on my toolbar for AOE, but usually hit DND > IT > PS > PEST > UB > UB > BB…sometimes flat out skipping IT and PS because trash was burning down too fast from group AOEs. Looking forward to tweaking it over the coming days. Funny thing was the other DKs who switched from DW to 2h were spamming how boring it was in comparison and they kept begging the raid leader to let them port and re-spec. /denied ROFL!

Thank you for getting back to me. /agree I went back to the cookie cutter 17/0/54 build with my 2H, and it’s just not the same.

Just curious, going so deep into unholy, and it only being the shifting of 1 point, I wonder if it’s feasible to work SS into the rotation. Anyone with some hard data want to tell me why that won’t work? :) I may try it tonight, and see if using SS and OB together will cause my server to crash, oh wait nvm, it will do that on it’s own.
