Heya guys!!  So…right…  Ghouls got moved in the Unholy tree.  Which throws everything into an uproar.  /sigh

Ghouls have become the iconic sidekick to Death Knights.  It’s been a part of most DK builds to begin with for some time, and was going to be a part of even more.  In many ways, it would be simpler to just call DK’s a pet class and make the ghoul available to all DK’s as a base class ability (as a true pet).

Simply tricking out the Unholy tree with the snazzy Ghoul stuff would have made it the pet focused tree.  Just like they wanted.  Sounds a little too close to Warlocks and Hunters you say?  Who cares?  There’s nothing wrong with pet classes so long as they all play different.  Which they all do.

But no, Blizzard has spent all of 3.1 slapping bandaids like crazy all over DK’s.  As some of you may remember I was loathe to start writing PTR posts becuase generally speaking, PTR posts just piss me the “F” off.  *runs hand down face from the forehead sighing in frustration*

Blizzard knows how to make a good game.  They know how to sell their product to the public.  And they can create some pretty solid content and mechanics.  But they are BUTT !@#$ing STUPID when it comes to class balance.  There.  I said it.  They’re morons.

They’ve let the whole DS thing go entirely.  Right.  Who wants to see DK’s in Arena matches DS’ing for awesome damage and heals, while cleaving constantly on HS’s?  HB is totally f’ing broken.  8 second cooldown.  Yeah, *that* fixes it.  Oh wait, it didn’t.  Everyone is picking up ghouls.  Let’s just move that entirely and trick them into buying something else then.  Oh wait, that *still* doesn’t make people want to buy HB.  Oh look, Rime!!  Let’s toy with that some…

Bandaids do not fix a problem.  Every time they turn around they change something entirely, and when they realize it made things worse…well they just go changing more !@#$ again.  /sigh  DK’s needed some nerfs.  And DK’s needed some changes.

DK DW and Disease-less were out of hand.  DK Tanking was out of hand.  DK PvP domination was out of hand.  But instead of some clear thought, and well worked changes.  We get a hack job and a bunch of bandaids thrown all over the place.  o.o

Right, gonna walk away and go grab a drink.

Incredible… you said exactly what I was thinking as I read the patch notes…

My primary concern with these chages revolve around the second tier in Unholy being even more unfriendly to frost dabbling in it. Now that the perma-ghoul is unattainable, Ravenous Dead is (probably?) not so good, leaving us with akward choices. I admit I have not yet tested this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Why do i have the feeling come 3.1 we the first hero class in WoW , be the new Ret Pallys of pre BC. and laughing stock in the WoW community =(. I strongly agree our class needed some balancing, but this whole band-aid issue with blizz its just too much, like mechanics werent hard enough !!!!! shessss.

This is pretty normal, they always do it and because this class is new, with more people QQ on it, more and more changes are expected.

I hope it won’t end up I can’t tank, and I can’t top 10 DPS, which lead to the end of raiding life.

What have they done to Diseaseless Blood? I haven’t noticed anything major.

I agree with you 100%. I feel like the Devs’ sole motivation this patch was to set out to annihilate certain playing styles, just because it didn’t fit with their vision of DK. Each round of “changes” has been made to nerf certain specs because they listen to all this Patchwerk QQ from other classes. I think our class is more unpolished than ever.

Give me back my freaking pet Blizz!
I was already considering my DK to be kind of a pet class :( Was hoping they would make it more of a pet class which was kinda happening with reduced CD on Raise Dead.

alphareus they made it so blood doesn’t really use obliterate anymore and that our strikes hit much much much higher when diseases are present

Few weeks ago I did a spec that was really close to my disease-less spec and found I did about ~200-300 less per 3 minutes on a test dummy. But I found adding diseases into the rotation I was doing ~100-400 dps then on live with disease-less using Obliterate but of course burning those blood runes first.

Also I heard today that they nerfed Death Strike back to what it is curently on live 60% weapon damage. It was 75% on the ptr for awhile up intil today I believe. So those nice Death Strikes in pvp you are talking about are now gone as well.

It seems to me Blizz is doing the same garbage they pulled in BC with Feral Druids(OMG hes a BEAR he hits way to hard nerf , nerf , nerf) . They make a class thats enjoyable and feels op against certain classes waits till everyone rolls one then starts nerfing them 1 patch at a time.

Why do you think they even came out with the leveling items? They already know people are going to be re-rolling thats why.

Blood is dead.
Frost is a cluster %^*(.
Unholy is STILL, on top. It was doing incredible damage last patch and was the spec to beat for DKs until the very upper tiers of Best in Slot gearing, and 3.1 it’s only getting buffs.

Starting to really think Blizz has a hard-on for any spec that has Holy in it’s name, note Holy pallies being nigh impossible to kill/run OOM, and Unholy DKs being amazingly destructive.

It is funny, blizzard keeps saying that they are going to make blood and frost do more damage because there are too many people playing unholy, but with all the changes it seems like they are forcing people to be unholy. I think Raharu is right Blizz does have a hard-on for holy specs.

It’s true about Unholy being on top and blood being basically dead in the water. Frost right now is looking like a freakish child of blood and unholy. It is true about Blizzards hardon for anything holy in the name look at the buffs holy priest got.

As disease using blood DK i was looking forward to all the changes up until the DRW nerf and the current nerf to death strike. You’re right SJ, they have no idea what the hell they’re doing. All they do is listen to mass QQ to make everyone else feel better about their Epeens.

As a heads up:

DPS winner was Blood. This new shift means, who knows now? The trees are performing well enough, it’s just that they are no longer stream lined pieces of work. They are now slapshod crotched together monstrosities ready to fall apart.

Smooth Jack, you jinxed us all. They just moved perma ghoul further down the Unholy tree. Hella ghey!!! I already did my QQing to the Devs on the PTR and told them that there is no way to obtain the ability without sacrificing too much in the Blood and Frost trees. They changed Guile of Gorefiend too, but Frost lovers will appreciate the change.

O yeah, and I highly suggest trying diseaseless Frost. Same kind of idea and rotation as diseaseless Blood, but FS instead of DC.
