Very Interesting. Most people on the forums have been posting 51/2/18 and using the Death Strike Glyph. Also the extra point in Runic Power Mastery to make DRW go on longer.
Would it maybe make more sense to go 3/3 Ravenous Dead instead of 3/3 Morbidity? It’s definitely a loss on aoe, but most boss fights have us single targeting anyway.
Can i ask what sigil is good for it and whats Dump? in the rotation? im still noob at DKs
DS Glyph is not reliable. You cannot guarantee that you will always have 50+ RP at all times for the bonus, and then it is only a bonus for 2 attacks out of 20 seconds. The DC Glyph on the other hand will affect 3 DC’s, possibly 4, that you will cast. In addition to that it will also affect any Sudden Doom proc’d DC’s as well.
RD could be a better way to go, but I’m still not 100% sure. Hence it’s a PTR preliminary post.
But considering you should be popping out between 4-7 DC’s per 20 seconds, I’m not sure.
There’s not really a great Sigil atm for the new Blood spec. Only mediocre ones.
Why dont u just end it with OB since OB does more dmg than DS
IT -> PS -> HS -> HS -> DS -> Dump
HS -> HS -> HS -> HS -> OB Dump
Why no Glyph of Blood Strike? That is pretty much mandatory in the current Live Blood Builds, and I don’t remember reading anything that says they are changing it to no longer worth with Heart Strike.
I would think that would be a definite DPS increase over Glyph of the Ghoul.
I play a frost DK, so forgive my ignorance of the rotations that I read for other specs. I am interested though in why DRW is always specced when every blood-spec rotation dumps on death coil. Is there a time you would use it? First rotation or last?
As frost we only have one runic dump so it makes it much easier to manage RP.
From what i have read about the uldar fights, there will be alot of raid damage through aoe, i believe you would see more damage by not getting perma-ghoul, putting points into RD, and taking one point out of BCB. that would mean you could replace the ghoul glyph with DS glyph. also, im not sure if this is correct but i believe that glyph of disease is supposed to be a major glyph, not a minor. If it stays as a minor, DK’s will pretty much be able to do pretty muchthe same disease-less rotation, subbing DS for OB, and using pestilance every so often.
a little additon to my above post. http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight=23050205300033032310231013510000000000000000000000000000230220305003000000000000000000&glyph=061008060504&version=9684. going with this spec, and if said disease glyph is a minor, should do more dps. rotation would be.
1.IT->PS->hs->hs->ds->dump
2.DS->HS->HS->HS->PESt->dump
3.DS->DS->HS->HS->DUMP
4.DS->HS->HS->HS-pest->dump
repeat 3 and 4 till boss is dead.
the only thing you would lose would be 5% dc damage, and the perma-ghoul, but with out NoTD i dont think it would last very long.
Yeah I was gonna say. Is the Ghoul really worth it? I heard the bosses in Ul are not that pet friendly
So I checked out your armory just to see how it was going and what spec you were currently running, and I wanted to cry. What weapons did I see? Two Last Laughs! I am currently trying diseaseless, but LOVE to Dual Wield. I decided I better try something new before 3.1 I hope to see a mention of an awesome Dual Wield test at some point.
Keep up the good work.
not to bad i did some testing witht his , unfor i did not have my tier gear equipped, so i am sure that would have gone a bit better for me. i was around 2800 single target dps. do you have a AOE rotation for this one?
OB vs DS – An untalented OB is not as good as a talented DS. Notice a lot of talent in blood which used to buff OB are gone.
Blood Strike Glyph is dependent upon a snare effect and most Mages don’t spec FF anymore so it’s not 100% reliable in all raid content. Also T8 Ghouls will do 500-800dps, so you want the extra stamina to keep them alive.
Glyph of Disease is a major, and no you do not want it. I was barely looking at the minors as they don’t really matter. Take the minors that make you happy.
Perma Ghoul is becoming the standard of all DK builds because they do so much stupid damage on bosses. It is by far the most efficient talent point expenditure for 1 point possible.
Pest will never be an efficient part of a rotation. You have to get a Glyph (dps loss) to make it work, and you replace an attack with a 0 dmg attack. The debate is long and arduous, but subbing Pest is not efficient. You have to look at the whole picture.
AoE:
DnD when there are 5+ targets. Possibly 4…not sure there. Otherwise at 2-3 targets HS spam beats out DnD hands down.
hands down, the dps the ghoul does is great, but with all the raid damages that most of the bosses in uldar will do the question is will you be able to keep it alive. In addition you only need 26rp to get the full benifit of the DS glyph. between the 25% more damge from Ds, and the additional 3% str the dps should balance out, espically considering it would not be necessary to watch your pet to make sure it didnt die for aoe or other fight mechanics that we will see in uldar
The question lies here:
DRW = given
Ghoul, DC, and DS = which 2 of the three?
The answer is not clear atm, but skipping on the perma ghoul talent is just crazy because if healers can keep it alive it’s stupid powerful. My opinion is that DK’s are moving more and more to the line of Hunters and Warlocks. I’d guess within a year Ghouls will be perma-pets for DK’s in general. Moving on however, 2 DS’s per 20 seconds compared to 4-8 DC’s per 20 seconds…DC at a glance looks like a winner imo. And to the ghoul, it’s not a question of more dps. It’s a question of Stamina. Following that line of thinking, points into RD to keep it alive is very sound.
I really enjoy all of your work, especially the builds and best in slots.
I tested this build on a dummy in silvermoon, and I got similar results using blood presence and unholy presence. I am thinking this is mainly due to the latency I have playing from Australia 400-500ms, and the rotation is so tight. In unholy presence I did have some periods (1-2secs) where I had nothing to do, but in blood presence sometimes I couldn?t fire off all my DCs before the rotation started again.
I don?t really know if this can be answered but will staying in blood presence scale better in a raid environment with at least 400ms of lag? I am trying to see what does the most DPS on dummies but I don?t think my method of testing could be used in a raid environment.
Jack, how much dps are the bloodworms bringing to the DK. Just asking because when lvling those things where great keeping you topped off, but when i started doing heroics and raiding i found that they where more of a pain then help. The reason is that after the mobs where killed they pulled the next group of mobs. This happend so much to me that i just respeced out of them. Is there any secret to them or do you know if they fixed them.
So.. can I say, they should add DeathStrike to our set bonus.. Our set bonus is going to be completely useless to blood dk’s with ob taking a huge nerf.
DS is used 2 times in 20 seconds. HS is used 6 times in 20 seconds. HS is on the set bonus. They made the right call on that one.
So, they just put up some changes on DRW and the DRW glyph drastically reducing its duration, do you guys still think it is worth putting your 51 point talent in it?
So, I’ve gotta ask, SJ. I’ve never had enough RP to fire off 2 DC’s from the first rotation or really total up to 4 DC’s per full rotation. I always end up with about 67 RP from my first rotation even with Blood Tap + Horn of Winter. I’m not horribly worried, as I’ve always been top dps in my guild and am definitely pretty comfortable with the DK playstyle and such, but you mention in most blood specs that if you aren’t firing off 2 DCs per dump, “you’re doing something wrong”. Is there an exception for the first RP dump?
My rotation usually ends up being:
PS > IT > HS > HS > DS > DCx1
DS > HSx4 > DC x2
And repeated with ~67, give or take, RP for the first part of the rotation.
I used to think that the t7 4-set would make up for this (Which I don’t have), but now it can’t help at all, as DS is not included with the extra RP. I’m pulling about 2.8k dps on the target dummy with my crappy Titansteel Destroyer with that lack-of-a-DC rotation. Any help?
That is, of course, from the PTR. I am specced DW 2/32/37 live for threat reduction.
alright ya ive tried out this spec on the ptr and its decent but personaly if ur goin for the full pve spec id say put 3 in rav dead instead of the morbility and 2 points in frost for the 30 extra rp because u can get alot of time w/ then dancing rune weapon also since it has a lower cd u can pull off alot more and maintain a high dps input
[...] Jack?s blood build. The post in which he explains it is here. I tend to take SJ at his word, and this was the build I tried first, I?ll admit. I have a few [...]
