More nerfs…yay!! /facepalm KM, Gargoyle, yadda yadda…

Posted by: Skeleton Jack    in Blue

Heya guys!!  So there is a lot to talk about with the upcoming PTR changes, however for the moment we’re only touching on a few points.

  • Killing Machine now gives Your melee attacks a chance to make your next Icy Touch, Howling Blast or Frost Strike a critical strike.
  • Necrosis now give your auto attacks an additional 4/8/12/16/20% shadow damage.
  • Summon Gargoyle now persists up to 30 seconds.  Damage from Gargoyles has been reduced from 64-86 to 51-69.
  • Anti-Magic Zone now lasts up to 10 seconds.
  • Gnaw cooldown has been increased from 20 to 30 seconds.

Outside of Necrosis, this is pure fail.  Keep in mind that Necrosis tends to never exceed 3% of your total damage, so this 5 point talent will cap out at 4-7% of your damage tops.  With 4-5% being more realisitic with these changes.  No one is sure yet what the PPM is on KM, so lets talk about it for just a moment for the uninitiated.

PPM

PPM stands for Proc Per Minute.  This is usually set to a number.  Let’s use the number 10 for example.  Now if an item or ability has a PPM of 10, that means that normally without anything changing your attacks you’d get 10 procs (or activations) per minute on average.  So if you would normally attack 30 times in 60 seconds (with haste) then you’d get 1 proc per 3 attacks.

Instant casts change things, as they don’t count as your normal attacks.  So if you fire off 30 instant cast attacks in 60 seconds you got 60 attacks in 60 seconds.  With the same PPM of 10, once you add in the instant casts, you will actually proc 20 effects in 1 minute since you are normally at 1 proc per 3 attacks with your current stats, etc…  Now, this is a bit simplified, but that is basically how PPM works.  You can also check out a read on PPM at WoW Wiki.

OK, so at the moment no one knows what the PPM on KM is, but I guess some testers will hopefully find out for us soon.

Summon Gargoyle

Summon Gargoyle is now less than 50% of what it was.  Remember that for about the first 10 seconds of the Gargoyle’s duration, he’s not doing bupkiss.  He’s summoning in.  So in actuallity you will only have a potential of about 20-25 seconds of dps instead of 50-55 seconds of dps.  Add in that the base damage is being reduced, and this has become a MASSIVE nerf to DK’s.

While it’s good to nerf this talent in regard to the fact that any and every spec can get it, this screws over Unholy spec dramatically.  Unholy is not really being buffed in any way outside of Necrosis, and that isn’t much to begin with.  So you’re looking at a pretty severe dps drop off.  It’s time to get crackin’ on ideas and thoughts on how to make up for some of this dps in the Unholy tree without affecting other trees.  Get on over to the PTR forums and drop some feedback and/or suggestions.

PvP Nerfs

AMZ to 10 seconds.  I’d personally think this deserves at least 20 seconds.  It requires a 6 point investment to gain, and has limited use which solid CC can actually negate entirely.  Not too keen on 10 seconds.

And wtf with screwing over our Stun?!?  It’s the biggest reason to stay spec’d into Ghouls for PvP to begin with.  /sigh

More to come

Well I’m off for the moment.  I’m still waiting to hear more feedback on the DK nerfs and changes.  And it’s things like these changes to KM and Gargoyle that is making me wait on revamps and touch ups on specs and rotations.  There’s still no telling where we will land.

This is like voting though guys.  If you don’t go speak up and leave some kind of feedback, then you’ve got no one to blame but yourself if you get something you don’t like.  PTR forums.

Heya guys!!  So, for those of you who are unaware, I’m always interested in new ways to get the word out about my site.  And I don’t just mean for eventually getting some “juicy” ads up to line my pockets.  The reason I started even reading Blogs to begin with was because of one of my best friends in the world, Mythra.  He plays a NE Hunter on my server, and is an amazing player.

Now a few months after he’d been playing for a while, he became insistent that I go read this site about some “huntard” named Big Red Kitty.  /sigh  Not happening.  Well 2 months later, his persistence paid out and I went and read this site, and nearly died laughing.  It was a “Brain vs BRK” post about his escapades in AV one evening, and after that I was hooked.  Through links on his site, I also became a regular reader of Out of Mana and Critical QQ as well.

Now as an Elemental Shaman (back in BC), it may come across as strange that I got into Blogs about Mages, Hunters, Warlocks, Druids, Rogues, and Warlocks.  But in the end, it came down to the writers.  Whether it was amazingly informative posts, outrageous humor, cool pics, or things that just made me stop and go, “Wow…”  These blogs drew me in, and I found myself expectantly waiting for their next posts.  Checking their sites sometimes more than once a day, just hoping one of them had decided to “pen something down”.

Now I’ve always been an amatuer writer since I was in the 8th grade in high school, whether it was a work of pros for school or a romantic poem to seduce the current girl in my life.  Things like that eventually lead me to writing house rules for multiple table top games, and eventually co-writing a tabletop RPG that several of our friends played in.  To eventually writing Guides for players in City of Heroes, and various guides on tanking and dps’ing as a Fury Warrior in vanilla WoW.

But when I started reading WoW Blogs…it suddenly hit me.  I could be writing about something I love, and actually help share a lot of useful information that I’ve picked up along the way.  It was never about popularity, making money, starting some new enterprise…  It was about writing about something that I was passionate about, and trying to find readers who would be just as passionate about it as I was.

Recently Skeletonjack.com has breached over 5k hits 2 days in a row (this is hits from individuals, not page views) thanks to not just my writing style, but to an amazing group of readers and players.  My site wouldn’t really be around with my readers.  And the fact that there are people out there who are so passionate about sharing a gaming experience, even if it’s to share some cool little story with me about how something happened to them while leveling…  I’m just glad to be a part of all of it.

*Sniffle* OK Jack, so what’s this all about?

Now don’t become a ninny on me.  Are you crying?  There’s no crying in “Death Knights”!! (disclaimer, there’s like 2 curse words in this clip)

Heh.  Part of this is all about a huge thank you to everyone.  Whether you’re just a new reader, a long time reader (for all of 3 months now, heh), or an in game friend I’ve bullied to tell people about my site (heh heh, I did do that!! *evil grin* LOL) thank you for all of your support.  And to those other Bloggers out there who’ve had linkbacks to my site, spread the word about me, etc…  A special thank you as well.  Part of my traffic is directly related to you guys.  And I appreciate it.

But these thoughts, ideas, and desires have eventually lead me to looking around and trying to find ways to “get the word out” as it were.  Well it just so happens I started noticing these “Massive Blips” icons on several Blogs out and about.  So I go check it out.  In the immortal words of the original Pumpkin King:

“Curiosity killed the cat you know.”

“I know!”

Massive Blips

So I go and log on to Massive Blips, I get signed up, make an account, send in a request for them to check out my Blog, etc…  I’m ranked like 270…  /sadface  Ah well, just got in…whatever.  Not even one day after I “claim” my site I get home from work…  Rank 42.  HOLY !@#$!!!  How the hell did that happen?!  I don’t know.  But wanna know something funny as hell?!?  This is still making me LOL…rofl.

I go see I got a link back from Elitest Jerks forums.  And I’m like, “OH HELLS YEAH!!!”  So I go click on it to check it out.  ROFLDLMAO.  Some guy got an infraction warning for “grammar” for writing “thx” instead of “thanks”.  Grammar Nazi’s much?!  Well he had put up a linkback to my site and a quote about some stuff I wrote about incoming nerfs.  ROFL.  So this DAS UBER linkback from EJ…yeah…a grammar correction, lol.  Ah well…

Anyways, these guys rank Blogs.  I don’t really understand how…but it has something to do with linkbacks appearing in posts about other sites registered with them.  It can’t be in a blog roll or the like.  It’s got to be in a post.  Hence my making a point of linking Big Red Kitty, Out of Mana, and Critical QQ.  Gotta spread the loving for the people who got me into this stuff you know?

Now this damn thing also says I have some other rank at 1.  Which was at 4 yesterday.  I have *NO* idea what that one means.  If on the bottom right side column under the voting box, server rank, and sitemeter stuff if you were curious.  You know wtf it means?  Throw a comment down!!  I’m sure as hell curious!

But if you’re starting out with a Blog or whatever, or have one, and don’t use Massive Blips…may I recommend getting it?  It’s one more tool to get your name out there, which is always a good thing.  You guys know of other ways as well?!?!  Give me a shout out here.  I’m sure people besides me would be curious!!  I haven’t got a clue.  I’ve never been a “blogger” before.  I just got into this stuff recently, so it’s all still new to me.  ;)

Coming Soon

“ZOMG NEW TOYS LOLOLOLOLYEEAHHYAYAYAYAYAYAAY!!!111!!1!!!111!!!!”

o.O  OMFG, no more caffeine for you guys.  You’re acting like gnomes fed sugar and then given “Toy Train” sets without cooldowns on them.  /shudder

Heh, so we’ve got some fun stuff in the works.  3.0.8 is probably coming out very very soon.  As they just rolled out some new tricks on the PTR I would think we have a minimum of 1 1/2 weeks to go still before release.  But you never know right?

We’ve got more BISI posts coming (there’d have been more already, but the HTML goblins of doom have left me mentally scarred and broken :P ), commentary on “Blue” posts and changes to the DK class, and even….DUH DUH DUH!!!!  TANK COMMENTARY.  Inorite!?!  loltankz!!!  heh

Hopefully we’ll have the BISI posts finished before 3.0.8 because they’ll get delayed with that release.  I’ll be dropping revamps on builds, specs, etc…  But we’ll take it a day at a time eh?  ;)

So what else?!?!

Are you F’ING KIDDING ME!?!?  Hell, I even lost myself in this bloody wall of text.  O.O

Achievements, Tank DK DPS, Arena, and random AoE dmg!!

Posted by: Skeleton Jack    in PvP, Tanking

Heya guys!!  So tonight we just have a random collection of moments splayed together.  From 2v2 Arena, to the 4 Horsemen, to a random AoE moment in Naxx, and some crazy Tank DK DPS at Patchwerk.  What do women drivers have to do with anything?   Nothkinz!!  We just like the picture!! ;)

2v2 Arena

So Rashera and I hopped into a 2v2 Arena double dps team to see what it’s like.  He plays Lia in our 5v5 Arena team.  Worked out pretty well.  We took the team from 1508 to 1660 in one sitting np.  I’m not 100% sure about rolling this setup in a 1800+ bracket, but it’s definetly easy mode for the lower rankings.  He’d peobably need to Holy spec for us to breach 2k, but we’ll see how it goes ya know?

It was hella fun!!  I’m looking forward to the DnD Glyph nerf to go through though.  The 20% fear effect is actually OP, whether I’m using it or being affected by it.  Doesn’t need to be a part of our arsenal.  Though I’ve been finding if they ignore me, there is an opening combo on any caster that will annihilate them.

Ghoul Stun -> Strangulate -> Mind Freeze

Now obviously you space these out.  You cast the Strang as the stun ends, and you follow up with the MF on the first spell they cast.  Generally speaking (especially healers who tend to not run as quickly as dps will) you lay down so much dps in the 8 seconds they are controlled that they are usually around 20-50% health just from your dps alone.  It’s pretty nasty.

Tank DPS as a Death Knight

So…we were down to 2 tanks at Patchwerk because of a rl situation.  And they were concerned about whether or not 1 OT would be good enough for the Hatefull Strikes from Patchwerk.  So I threw on my Tank gear and helped out some.  I was a lil bit sad as I have been wanting to beat my 5700 DPS from before.  But this was still amazing.  In full tank gear and Frost Presence (Unholy dps spec with Flask 180AP) I still did 3600 dps!!!  Crazy!!!

4 Horsemen Achievement

Heroic: And They Would All Go Down Together.  That’s some sexy !#$$ ehh?!?  We took that motha down tonight, yeaahhh!!!  /highfive

10k+ AoE Damage!!

Yeah, you read it right, 10k babay!! :D   Spider Wing of course, most adds possible.  Rocked it out blowing crap up on a trash pull!!

Best In Slot Posts

So these are coming along well I think.  I’ll have probably 2 up tomorrow.  Would have had 2 up today, but I ended up spending the equivalent amount of time as 3 posts on the last one because the HTML gods hated me today.  Peace out, and take care guys.
