Website Ads…Help!?!

Posted by: Skeleton Jack   in Website

Heya guys!!  So, looking for some friendly advice if you have it.  ;)   Several of my friends (in game and in rl) have told me I have to get some damn adds on the site.  So…ok.  I give.  Free money does sound good.  A site was recently suggested to me: Website Outlook.  This is supposedly an estimation of what you can make, and they give you a nifty little banner like so if you want one:

My site is worth $5898.4.
How much is yours worth?

Well this thing estimates my daily page view at 2116, which is massively incorrect.  You can clicky my Site Meter report here.

  • Average Site Visits per day: 3492
  • Average Site Views per day: 7377

Which would more than triple their current esitmate, meaning rolling in $20 a day roughly in ads *IF* their estimates were right.  Now…I don’t know about you guys.  But that means $140 free and clear a week…for doing something I LOVE!!!  /SIGN ME UP

So, I’m ignorant to ads online.  If you know of someone who wants to advertise here, know where I need to look, who to talk to, etc, etc, etc…  SHOUT OUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.  :D

Comment here on the site or E-mail me at:

P.S. For anyone saying, “SELL OUT!!!”  Yes, yes I will.  Heh  :P   I don’t want to be doing what I am currently doing for the rest of my life.  And if I can pull in some extra cash from a site I spend 20-30 hours a week working on, I think that’s a fair hope.  That’s not even minimum wage people.  :P

check out Project Wonderful. A lot of the web comics I read that have managed to turn them into a career use it as their main ad source, with google ads buried way down at the bottom. http://www.projectwonderful.com/

ads and merchandise. T-shirts and stickers etc.

I say go for it as well. I use ads on my site and do my best to keep them as unobtrusive as possible. RMT ads are a no-no however.

Project wonderful: I use it, it works, the money is more or less a trickle for me but that’s probably because my traffic is lowish. Good thing about PW is that you can withdraw your income as low a 10$ where other advertisers require you to have 25, 50, 100 banked before they cut a check.

Aside from that I also participate in an ad circle that is being managed by http://www.drainingsouls.net. The goal is to gather up MMO bloggers who want to monetize off of their blog but are strictly against RMT(real money transaction) ads…gold selling, power leveling, etc. The payout on that has been monthly and worth the ad space as well.

So I’m curious, is it $20 / day / add?
Throw about 10 adds in line on the left side of the page, where they’re out of the way… does that make it $200 / day?

You’d be crazy not to SJ, but I’m sure you know that.

I say go for it Jack….BUT if I see any advertising for gold selling or power levelling sites, you will lose a regular visiter. As far as I am concerned anyone who uses their services are cheaters.

Not sure Tode. Not sure.

Doom, you may have to give me a week or two leeway once it gets setup. Most of what I’m reading allows anyone to put an add up, but you can approve/disapprove later and/or set filters. As Irnewb to ads, something might slip through.

Most ads come from services that find advertisers for you who bid on your site space. I’d rather find an advertiser on my own, but I’m not 100% how to go about that still.
