Comments, Questions, and Answers???

Heya guys!!  Sometimes questions and comments on the site can get away from me.  Whether I miss them in the mix, there are too many, plan to get to them later, etc…  I tried to answer most of the relevant ones just now, but skipped some of the Garg/DW spec ones because the comment was getting so long, it really deserves it’s own post.  So expect more dps commentary and discussion on these things later tonight or tomorrow.  ;)

8 posts in one day is too much, you guys need something for later.  :P

When you do your best in slot, do items with gems slots jsut get +16str or how are you figuring that? Just looking for a general answer nothing specific

The posts say:

“When gemming gear most of the time you will ignore the slot colors. Only pay attention to slot colors when trying to meet a metagem requirement if you need to. Otherwise every gem slot should be either +Strength, +Expertise, or +Hit. These numbers assume you are using Rare gems available to any player.” That means that any gem combining these stats are also ok. But part of the Best in Slot choices will be gems, don’t worry.

SJ, In the 0/31/40 spec. Do you use death strike or death coil anywhere in rotation? So its
ps-it-bs-bs -hb repeat. Also you are in blood presence correct. Your blog is awesome just want to make sure I’m right.

Hey Proximous,

I believe that the OP presence is Unholy Presence. Somewhere in here SJ has given an example of using Blood vs. Unholy. Using Blood does give you the 15% to damage but using the Unholy gives you an extra attack every 5th or 6th second.

I might be wrong but I have used BP since leveling up to 80 and past. Only resently have I started using UP and I have started reaching higher on the dps meters. I will say this: After using UP any time I switch to Frost Presence to tank…I…..feel…..so…….slow.

Thanks for clearing that up.I know Skeleton jack went through all the setups I guess I’m getting a information overload. I read it understand it just cant get my fingers .thanks for all the awesome info .

I just recently read from mmo, that crypt fever will not stack with ebon anymore. I have not messed around with points, but i do thing this will effect us none of the less

Dude your site rocks! Kudos on all the work you do!. EbonProxy mentioned this site to me and I check it religiously now. I recently spec’d from Blood to UnHoly and I’m having a blast. I know this post was more for DW etc. etc. But I did have a question for your gold section. Since DK’s start in the 50’s and have to start from 1 with professions what profession do you think has the best turn around for profit. In other words, what profession can I dump the least amount of gold into to level and make the most gold out of? Your input would be appreciated thanks!

think*, sorry about that. I figured with the 3 extra points if they’re not going to be put into crypt fever you can finish off mercliess combat and night of the living dead and maybe put it into outbreak. I still dont know whats the best untill patch comes out and i can fumble around with talents

Just wanna say that you doing a great jobb with this blogg and I really enjoy 2 wisit it and read about all the important topics =) ..
I just have a question since I have not seen you compare Blood Precens vs Unholy Precens, and if UP is better when you are in unholy spec and maby is better to be in BP when you are in blood spec or wise versa :P

When I tested 2 be in either UP or BP I did notice that the dps was the same in both presense (+- 50 dps) during a 10 min fight against the boss dummy in Ebonhold with the same rotations both times.

I did like 2 be in BP more cause I really liked the higher crits and I feelt like I never had 2 w8 too use a skill in the rotation like in UP.

So I hope that you maby can do some good post about this and try it out your way and in different situations, so all the dk´s out there can see what the “best” pressence 2 use is =)

Blood Presence = Answer. UP is the PvP presence really, and only certain specs focusing on too many attacks work with UP. And those usually require more work and give less gain. Dummy testing is always limited. Think of scaling. Raid buffs + abilities + 15% dmg = more scaling than just fast GCD, get it?

Jewel Crafting = highest profit. Herbing = 2nd best probably. Least on my server.

CF and EP stack as of now. PTR, I’ve heard of no change. 0/31/40 is a “raid friendly” spec, hence why I listed it, and the 0/32/39 spec whis is more “you” oriented.

/sigh PTR: Ebon Plague: It is no longer possible to have a duration longer than the disease which caused it. It will no longer stack with Crypt Fever used by another character.

SkellyJack Sweet site ty for all the amazing info. Really has been a great source for me and this awesome new class.

I’m curious to know if you have or know of or maybe even an idea for another post sometime in the near future of starter gear that we can be aiming for to help start raiding. Whether its boe, craft sets, heroic blues or quest rewards just wanted to get a head start gearing my little meat masher into a finely crafted killing machine.

My priorities atm are to finish BISI, and then work on 3.0.8 specs/builds for PvE dps. Then refinish PvP builds. From there I have to get back to some tank stuff. All the while covering basic day to day stuff too. Entry level raid gear is not something I may have time to get to.

Yeah Prox, it’ll change it so long as there is a 2nd DK in the raid with EP. Otherwise no.

To be honest, there are plenty of good guides for entry level raid gear available. If you go over to tankspot and click the forums and then go to the gear thread… Polar has a good gear guide for entry tanks.
For DPS a simple google search of “pre naxx deathknight dps gear” gives you some good answers the first one being:

which is actually pretty well done.
I like where SJ has his focus currently and wouldn’t want him investing too much time into gear lists that are already well covered.
