YOU SEE THAT!?!?!?  THAT HAPPENED TO ME IN WINTERGRASP!!!!  Or should I say, “WE HATE YOU SKELETON JACK ZONE!!!!“  OMFG!!!  You ever heard of the word “Tenacity“?  Well, you will soon.  And you’ll either love it, or hate it.  Us?  Bonechewer and I.  We hates it.  A lot.  It’s like brains without the stem.  It’s just not right. *grumble from Bonechewer*

Wintergrasp is hell.  PURE HELL.  And Bull!@#$ too!!!  WE.  DO.  NOT.  LIKE.  IT.

“Oh listen to lil ally baby crying!!! Wahh!!! Waahhh!!!  Waaahhh!!! qq lil girl!!”

OK, so maybe if I left it there someone could say that and I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.  So…I’ll tell you why Bonechewer and I are seriously considering abstaining from Wintergrasp…forever.

OK, so this Tenacity buff seems crazy right??  IT STACKS!!!  I F with you not, I was killing a damn orc who had over 60k hit points.  SIXTY THOUSAND HIT POINTS!!!  Did I actually kill him?  Nope.  He smoked me.  Was it fair?  In theory, yes.  In the reality of the situation, hell no.  And here is why and how this works.

Wintergrasp Balance

In an ideal world you go PvP against the opposing team and there are an equal number of opponents.  Cool.  Fine.  Let’s do it.  I don’t like a fair fight…because…well I like to win.  And I’m an evil Death Knight.  We’re supposed to play dirty.  But if you make us do it…well…we will.  So Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom, thought up a way to buff people who are on the side with less people.  Well…theoretically, that’s actually a good way to deal with world PvP.

It’s not like a Battle Ground, where the fight is instanced and the game forces x amount of people into the match.  One Horde could show up and find himself fighting off twenty Alliance.  That’s BS.  So where is the problem?  STUPID MORONS AND EXPLOITERS!!!!

Did you know in Wintergrasp today we had a level 7, a level 19, a level 57, a level 10, and a level 72 player in the zone?  That means there are 5 people in the zone who couldn’t begin to kill a normal level 80 to start with (let alone one buffed with stacks of Tenacity).  Then you have to realize that these morons are adding stacks of Tenacity to the horde players.  Yes that’s right.  Either morons were griefing us.  Either Horde was sending lowbies over to grief us.  Or jerks were griefing us.  Either way…

I

Still

Got

Griefed.

In and of itself, the Tenacity thing works well.  If 2 horde jump 6 alliance they could wipe the floor with the Alliance.  But if the Alliance players think and play well…they could be dropping stuns, silences, disarms, fears, etc.  Those 2 super buffed Horde will die pretty quickly then.  40k hit points, or not.  Something that makes the fight more balanced is great in my book, and it makes you think.  But the rules of the zone need to change.

The zone needs to have a level requirement, or it needs to not count any player under the level 77 for Tenacity purposes.

/sigh

So where is the upside.  Man, I tell you what.  If you want a crash course in how to PvP as a DK…go to Wintergrasp when you have the majority.  It’s like bashing your head into a wall.  But I tell you what, your skills improve dramatically when the other opponents are playing in “god” mode and you’re busting hump just to stay alive.

So what did I do after I got my rear kicked?  I went to Strand of the Ancients.  Oh yes, I rocked it.  Hard.  I was getting like 1300 honor per match or so.  It was nice.  Yes it was.  Bonechewer got some brains, I got some female Blood Elf numbers (you have to specify female…cause those male BE’s are a lil fruity ya know what I mean?), we got to kill some people…..  It was a good day.

Anyways, I’m still sick as a dog.  Been missing work…ugh.  Getting some sleep.  Take care out there guys, and I hope this helps sate some of that PvP craze I’ve been getting asked about.

Hey I agree with you on the need for a required level on tenacity, but 77 is too high. Anyone that can get to Dalaran can get to Wintergrasp, and for Mages (per Blizz’s design) thats level 71. So Realistically, having a level 71 requirement for the Tenacity buff count shouldnt be out of the question. Personally I’d rather see players that are lower than lvl 77 on turrets and in siege engines, so they arent giving rank to the opponents as fast, or taking up a spot in the GY queue. When fighting someone with the Tenacity buff, just handle them as you would when soloing an elite. Minimize the damage you take, through kiting and CC, and maximize your damage/self healing when able. Improved Rune Tap is a HUGE advantage when PVPing without a consistent healer. That 4k+ heal can and will mean the difference between survival and death, and it gets exponentially better when you have the Tenacity buff (% of health based heal? Sign me up!). Been getting 2-3k honor every WG, so it really is a good way to roll, if you’re into the PVP thing.

Exploiters always ruin a good thing. There is no reason in anyones mind for a less than lvl 70 to be there, other than run up the Tenacity buff for them on their Main account.

I originally thought that Blizzard spawning NPCs to supplement the battle would have been better than the tenacity buff, and now I even more further believe so.

I tried searching the site but found nothing. I was wondering if Skeleton Jack happened to have DK Unholy Pawn Scales? Might make an informative post :)

Anyone that low isn’t going to be able to contribute in any decisive way to the battle. Their stats, their gear, etc is too crappy.

Straight up, if you can’t hold your own versus a level 80, you have no business in there.

My question is why in the world are low lvl ppl even going in there go they get the wintergrasp buff as well. Becuase I thought that you only get it in dragonblight. So my question is why are they wasting their time in there instead of lvling. That is pretty annoying. Hey sk I have a really quick question for you. Have we lost that buff on our server becuase of some lvl on our server? Im lvling in dragonblight atm and that kinda pi$$es me off if I lost the xp buff because of some low lvl ppl wasting their time to do a lvl pvp that they are screwing up for ppl in the first place. Sorry if I seem pi$$y but it is just a little annoying knowing that Im losing my xp buff because of that… >< grrr lol

Why lowbie 70’s go in there? Probably to check it out without realizing that it really does hurt our side when they go in there. So sadly, that’s just a consequence of ignorance.

Why do people who are not even 70 go in there? IMO, to grief you. I see no reason why otherwise.

I PvPed in Wintergrasp and I have to disagree, I’m very good with seige vehicles and I end up killing more people and destroying more enemy vehicles than atleast half the lvl 80s. Since when you’re in a vehicle your gear and lvl don’t matter there should be some exceptions.

Also, I have won 90% of the Wintergrasp battles I’ve attended, and when I’m too busy questing else-where my side loses atleast 50% of the time…. just think about that.

PS: The more Tenacity the other side has, the more honour they’ll gain since they kill so much stuff, but the less chance they have to win! In one match the enemies could solo our catapults in 5 seconds flat, but they got completely creamed losing all their seige workshops and towers! (and they were the ones on offense!). Aggressive defense is my favourite kind >:)

19 twink!
 10

First off, anyone who think that A lower level person can’t help out in wintergrasp needs to think before they talk chit. I have personally killed a ton of lvl 80’s in wintergrasp via vehicles and cannons, ” and a few afk folks I found close to the fight, srsly”.
I know that EVERY person counts when it comes to the tenacity buff, hell I go there on my main to. and TBH I would rather see a lvl 1, sitting his arse on a cannon atually shooting and killing people, then some of the lvl 80’s i see either afk, or just running around doing nothing, which happens a lot more then lowbies going to wintergrasp.
When it comes right down to it, I don’t go there for any other reason then to change it up a little bit and do something other then wsg all the darn time with my twink, yes I pvp on my main also, but going once in a while on my twink is fun to..

IN SHORT
Some people have always complained about twinks, but we are still here after all these years. its not going to change, neither is wintergrasp, or any future twink activities that happen. so get over it

Oh and P.S. to alexander post number 7
Who the faq do you think you are whinning about how you were in dragonblight doing your questing, when all of a sudden you lost your buff you never helped to get in the first place,, get off your lazy a$$,, and go help your team if you feel that strongly about it. people like you, who expect the world for free, are way worse IMO then any lowbie, twink, gold farmer, or emo kid can ever be. so do us all a favor and go burn your cd to WoW. might I suggest spores, or runescape perhaps for you.

A “twink” has no place in WG, end of story. Just because you think you’re entitled to be there does not mean that you are. Whatever kills you can manage to earn in a vehicle will not compensate for your lack of contribution for all of the time you will not be in one, which will be considerable on average. Just because you’re “there” doesn’t mean we have to like it or support it. There will always be people who care more about themselves, than the community at large. And you are one of those people.

Ok. So after reading all these post, I did get an answer to my questions :) Apparently any level can go to WG. Now I’m seriously thinking my little level 69 just needs to stay home for a while yet. I think I’ll let her grow up a bit first. Thanks yall!

Why can’t Blizzard just fix this problem? Is it really that hard to program the computer to not allow players under level 70 in there? I doubt they planned on allowing low levels in WG? So fix it. Or if Blizzard thinks its ok for under 70’s to join in at least fix the tenacity calculation system so their participation doesn’t hurt your side. Blizzard can easily fix this, so why don’t they?

I think Wintergrasp works pretty darned well at this point. My side on my server is usually outnumbered, and tenacity does not quite make up for it. Ie. when we are evenly matched we win about 50% of the time, when we have stacks of tenacity we win less often, but at least it’s still possible to win when we are outnumbered 3-1, although more difficult. I think this is the way it should be. A slight numbers disadvantage still motivates people to get in the game, but if there was no such thing as tenacity, I just wouldn’t go to WG. Ever. I don’t like automatic lose. I think it works great the way it is now.

From WoWwiki:
Since patch 3.2.0 you have to queue to join the battle of Wintergrasp. To join the queue, you can either talk to Wintergrasp battlemaster in any of the major cities or just simply enter the zone. You also need to be at least Level 75 to join. The queue will accept 120 players from each faction, so a total of 240 players can join the battle. Level 80 players have a higher probability to join the queue than lower level players.
