Heya guys!! OK, so I said I did 5700 DPS on Patchwerk. Hell, I’ve got the SS to prove it. But as many are, and probably more who are not, aware Recount has it’s own method of determining DPS. Which is slightly inaccurate. Now the big boys on the block for factual proven numbers are WoW Web Stats and WoW Meter Online.
These basically record the in game combat log and put up in pretty graphics what you really did and how. Now for the purposes of online measuring the top ranked DPS’ers in WoW, people rate other players by not their DPS, but their “Effective DPS”. What does that mean? Glad you asked.
Effective DPS is basically how much Damage you do per duration of the boss encounter instead of the damage per second (DPS) you do. What is the difference you ask? Say a boss encounter lasts for 3 minutes, or 180 seconds. Now lets say you did not run in and make contact with the boss until 10 seconds had passed. And lets also say that you dealt 100,000 damage in this encounter.
DPS = Damage per second. You spent 170 seconds dealing damage so your DPS is 100,000/170 = 588.235
“Effective DPS” = Damage per second for the encounter. You spent 180 seconds in the encounter so 100,000/180 = 555.555
Now there have been arguements about the fairness of that method, but it doesn’t matter anymore. That is the tried and true accepted method of measuring DPS now online for WoW. So pretty much you have to deal with it. Whether you like it or not, heh. 
Basically, if you want to get ranked you have to bust your hump and get into every fight *right* away.
Now Recount does add everything in, such as Army of the Dead. Yes, I said it. ARMY OF THE DEAD!!! BEWARE MY UNDEAD HORDE!!!! RAWRR!!!!
Heh. At the start of Patchwerk I drop AotD becuase they don’t Taunt bosses. Go figure right? Well those lil suckers do a butt ton of damage…but it does not appear that WWS is setup to acknowledge them as part of your DPS. So they did not even record it for me. /sigh
Right, so if you look here again you will see that I did 5700 DPS and that Batmack did 5500 DPS. Sweet right? So I wanted to go look up all of the information on the fight. So we head over here to the WWS Report “Clicky“.
Now if you look at the top right side of the window with all of the toons and dps listed in it, there will be a box named “Columns” with 2 small gear icons. Click on it. It will expand a list of columns to optimize the charts. Under Dmg Out there is a list of green choices. The last one is “Avg DPS”. Make sure it is checked. That is the “Effective DPS” number I was telling you guys about.
Now you will see here that I did 5400 DPS (instead of 5700 DPS) and that Batmack did 5800 DPS (instead of 5500 DPS). Weird right? Inorite!?!? /cry I was cool for a moment!! 
So, that has been driving me CRAZY. For some time now. You just do not know. My itemization in Unholy setup, versus his DW gear setup, should be able to put me ahead. But it doesn’t. So I did some searching on the net. And I found this wonderful link “Clicky” at WoW Meter Online.
So here is the deal. The Top 10 rated DK’s for DPS for the ideal tank and spank fight in game rocked out for 5300 to 5700 DPS with that site. Batmack’s DPS would have placed him at the number 5 spot in that encounter. Pretty dope eh? Word!! Who’s mother?!?! What?!
Exactly…heh.
Eight of the DK’s were a Dual Wield Howling Blast/Unholy spec. 2 of them were Unholy spec’d. And more than one of the DK’s used a SLOW MH weapon instead of using FAST/FAST weapons in each hand. Interesting stuff eh?
0/32/39 is the standard DW spec atm. Standard variations include swapping points around in Night of the Dead, Crypt Fever, and Bone Shield. And no I have not had time to track down the Glyphs and Rotations yet. Sorry. SLOW/FAST is entirely viable atm for DW spec, as is FAST/FAST. I’ve looked through a lot of the gear for these people and the gear disparity is enough in both directions that player skill and RNG is accounting for the DPS differences more than gear is.
So, the end result appears to be that Dual Wield is currently leading the pack, followed closely by Unholy. Ideally 2 DK’s (one spec’d into each) would bring great raid utility as well. Unholy would bring Ebon Plaguebringer and Unholy Aura, while the DW would bring Imp Icy Talons and Crypt Fever. Which would allow both specs to do their maximum potential DPS so long as all other raid buffs were covered.
I don’t have finalized research done on DW spec, their rotations, their glyphs, or their BISI. So…since I’m making damn sure I do the BISI posts 100% correctly this time, it is getting pushed back ever so slightly again. Why? I don’t know that I have accurate weight scales for APE for DW builds. So gimme some time. I’m working this stuff out. Good luck to those out there whatever spec they try!!

Death Knight T8 Graphics
Heya guys!! I’m heading out to work, but thought I’d leave you with this nice little present courtesy of MMO Champion. T8 DK models for males currently in the game files (this was data mined). Will it go live? Possibly no, but most likely yes. This is intended for patch 3.1, which means 3.0.8 is the next big one coming up (currently on PTR). So you have a while to wait still. Either way, it’s still hot!! Not as hot as me… But hey, what can you do? heh

Heya guys!! So everyone who has been saying that the Dual Wield DK’s are like my boy here…think again. I have said before that I thought DW builds were viable, but due to gear scaling would be subpar until T8 itemization. Even that estimation was apparently wrong. I watched a guild mate try out a Howling Blast/Unholy DW spec and pull 5500 dps on Patchwerk.
He used the following spec 0/32/39, however I may suggest you could spend points in an alternative method like 0/32/39. Of course several points are mutable depending on raid composition, etc… But if you have a 2nd DK, I HIGHLY recommend going 3/3 Crypt Fever.
Ebon Plaguebringer and Crypt Fever can actually STACK!!! How’s that work you ask? If one DK specs into just Crypt Fever, and then a second DK specs into Ebon Plaguebringer, then both debuffs will go on to the boss. Because EP grants the effects of CF, you get the bonus 2 times. So that’s x30% twice plus EP, so 30% + 30% + 13% = +73% to all disease damage on top of the bonus from Impurity. Pretty sexy eh?
And then we have the weird Blood Strike synergy with Frostfire mages. Glyph of Blood Strike is misleading to begin with because it works with BS and Heart Strike. The deal here is that the FF debuff applies to bosses, even though they don’t run slower. Which means the BS Glyph works, and you get the bonus +20% to all of your BS and HS on any boss if there is one Frostfire spec’d mage in your raid. And as luck would have it, Frosfire spec is the highest raid dps spec available for mages!! /WIN
This is especially tasty for DW and Blood specs. Not 100% sure about Frost specs. Definetly not for Unholy. But I mean, +20% damage on an amazing attack all of the time!?!? That’s crazy!! I’d expect a nerf on the Glyph of Blood Strike eventually though (in regards to PvE raid bosses), because that sounds retarded broken.
Also I got the templates for the Best in Slot Items posts entirely finished. So I just have to plug in pics and item links. I’m not sure if I will be listing a full spread on the Sigils as there are only a few decent ones, but I’ll list those as well.

Heya guys!! That’s right!! 5700 DPS on Patchwerk!! /sexy on We dropped him in under 3 minutes taking Heroic: Make Quick Werk Of Him for the first time!! And then on top of that I finally got my Sigil of Awareness tonight from Heigan!! Pop it in my slot, and WHAMMO!!! Superior!!! 
So, that’s right. 5700 DPS with no weird buffs from encounters as Unholy. It’s doable. I think 6k+ is doable now. Pimpin’ stuff eh?!
Now, wanna see something else that’s interesting? Batmack did 5500 dps as DUAL WIELD SPEC!!! How’s that for pimptastic eh? End Answer!??!

Heya guys!! Yeah, so know how I was talking about being tired? I got a combined total of 6 hours of sleep in the past two nights, so as I crawled out of bed this morning I seriously considered calling in sick. But I was good and went in like an obedient little drone, heh.
I’m all prepared to plead with my boss (who likes me) to send me home early today. Which is normally an easy deal, np. Ahhh, but I was set up as one of the closers today. /sigh Well, it worked out as I made a butt ton of money today…and as I’m not wealthy in /rl, it was welcome. Heh. So I was then a dutiful roomie and went and bought groceries as Garroc (my roomie) cooked some kickin’ mexican…which I promptly demolished. Hehehe! /yum!! I <3 mexican food!!
So now I am debating a nap before raid time and tooling around on the computer trying to figure out what to do on my last “freebie” day for the blog before it’s time to sit down and crunch out some hardcore posts.
Is anyone else addicted to that Hide and Seek song from the Blind video with the rogues fighting?!!? OMFG GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD PLEASE!!! I can’t stop listening to it!! /cry And Monday is normally TV day too!! Not sure if my shows started up again or not. But like 4 of the shows I record all air on Monday!!! /grumble Need to spread that crap out!! /random

Up too late…
I have to be up in 4 hours for work…oh man today is gonna suck. Gonna suck bad. I’m probably gonna go in and ask to let go early today, if possible. But we’ll see. The plan? I’m gonna go get a few hours of sleep, stumble through work, and then come home and crash for a few hours. Later we’re clearing Naxx25 (the holidays threw off our schedule), and then if everyone logs in, we’re gonna do 5v5. The holidays have just made it rough getting everyone together.
I picked up my buddy for the game tonight, and his girl was with him. I think it’s his girl. Well, she lives out of state, they talk all the time, she flew down here and is staying with him for a little over a week… I mean, you do the math right. She was a hottie too!! Very cool cat. Showed them the first episode of Leverage. If you’re a fan of Ocean’s 11, then Leverage is a good watch.
So worked all day, picked them up, we went and played D&D, hung out, made fun of each other, and basically had a good time. Came home, watched some TV and a movie, washed clothes, and I’m now blathering talking to you guys when I should be in bed.
I’m pushing BIS items work to Tues, in case they release the patch. I don’t think they will. But if it’s not out by then, then I will be launching directly into it.
Tanking
After the patch hits I will be covering Tanking briefly. So there is a heads up now. But my focus will be to complete the website page and BISI posts before going back to tanking. So while you can expect some tanking posts soon (patch release), the hardcore and in depth stuff will have to wait for 2-4 weeks before I drop back into that.

Horde
I’m not dropping SJ. I AM SJ!!! HELLO!?!?!! Sheesh… I’m not transfering or swaping to Horde guys, but the fact is I’ve always wanted a Blood Elf since their release. So sometime within the next 1-6 months, I plan on starting one up. I will most likely not choose a PvP server just because I have a level 62 Rogue on a seperate account I could just re-activate and then transfer to the new server to get a freebie level 55 DK right out of the box. Scroll of Ressurection anyone?!?!

Heya guys!! So if you noticed, I just cranked out some fun posts this evening and stayed up WAY too late, lol. But hey…you only live once right? Recently I “online” met someone new who has become…a friend? Well as much as anyone can become a friend that you chat with through e-mails, but I enjoy our random talks. It’s nice opening up sometimes and spouting off random crap in your head. And when the other person has a clue…heh.
You’ve also probably heard me refer to my friend Eriss who got me in to WoW to begin with. There’s also Diremudflap who is a crazy SoB who likes gnomes WAY too much, and others like Nashena (who turned out to be my friend Lia/Hobbsy/Rashera). And I’ve also dated several women from WoW as well.
What I’m trying to say is that sometimes when you play this game, you actually meet people you wish to be more in contact with than just, “Let’s go kill some !@#$!!” Sometimes you wonder how their day was. What’s new in their life? Are they happy? What have they been up to? And sometimes you find you earn a new friend along the way whom you can confide in and trust and talk to.
And when that happens, nothing spells WIN like that. Meeting people in WoW and having them as a friend, even if it is limited to calls via cell phones/skype, is one of the more amazing things about the online gamer community. Meeting like minded people you could never have met through any other means, and actually being able to impact their lives.
Now don’t get me wrong. You’ve got your pervs, your creeps, and your sickos out there. I mean…you gotta be careful you know? But always remember, you can make real friends in WoW. Or in even other MMO’s. I’ve got several gamer friends now who I talk to on the phone that I’ve known now for 2-5 years each. Even though we’ve never met, we’re still friends. Always keep your mind open to that possibility. You never know who you’ll meet.
